If we look some very populars series we will notice often main roles have numbers of names instead of classic names.

Here are some examples.

Eleven in Stranger Things
Most popular role in series and everything start with her run. Everybody else from main roles have regular names.


Thirteen Dr. House
Female doctor who played in main role in few seasons.


Seven of Nine Star Trek Voyager
She is not the only one with number as name in Star Trek since all Borg drones have this marks.

In case of 11 her real name is Jane, she got the number 11 because that is her number as lab rat

All of those are called by numbers for story reasons. Thirteen in House was called that because House couldn't be bothered learning the names of all the new interns and gave them all numbers instead. As Netherrealmer said, Eleven had a name, she was referred to as a number when she was a test subject. It's not a super common thing in tv shows, but I suppose common enough to be a trope.

True. I think they find true identitey of Seven Of Nine before Borg assimilated her. But still everybody talk about Eleven or Seven not their real names.
