Now we are going to have Netflix's first K-Nimation, Lookism is a based from a Popular Webtoon (online comics) from Korea that got viral. Netflix originally wanted to make a Live action but tencent already purchased the exclusive rights for the live action.



Lookism is about a fat and ugly college boy who is bullied all his life. God felt so bad of him so they gave him a second body. A handsome and athletic body who is more intelligent, more athletic and can win fights.

Whenever his fat body sleeps, he wakes up on his handsome body. Whenever his handsome body sleeps, He wakes up on his fat body. He will use his fat body to work night shift on a convenience store, then use his handsome body to go to school, pursue a modelling and pop music career and make friends. He thought being handsome will make him happy but it gave him more enemies out of jealousy. He is good in Martial though in his handsome body.



His ugly body is named Park Hyun Suk
His Handsome body is named Daniel Park

If you have a second body that you can use whenever you sleep, what will you do? Because of the 2 body fiasco, he doesn't dream anymore.

China did a live action version years ago but they turn it into romance because they gave him a love interest and went to a different direction. This Netflix show is the first faithful adaptation.

After a few months or years, China will do the same thing. In my country Philippines, we also do have local superheroes. In my opinion, they are only appealing for Filipinos.

its not a Superhero show, its just about a fat teen who was blessed to have a second body. When the fat body sleeps, his consciousness transfers to the fit body vice versa. He uses the fit body to go to school because he is popular and uses his fat body to work night shift at a convenience store. The show is so good I watched it in a whole day. Al 8 episodes and now I am reading the webtoon comics because I might wait for a year or 2 if this will get renewed.

It shows how society treats people base on their looks.

Nice idea showing how people don't like fat people and how they like famous, glancy, handsome people. But if we look at series from normal perspective this is impossible. Kids don't go sleep early and they hangout using videocalls at night so in real life somebody would fast discover this event.

It should be educative serie about fat bad or drawbacks or the bad sides of being fat, by creating a story as a film for the purpose.

Its in the top 10 in many countries and the Chinese live action adaptation was hit in China even though they change the story. This one follows the story so fans are happier, the only complain are the low budget animation but that is the show runners being smart because low budget Netflix shows have higher chance to get another season. There is a Hindi dub for Indians.

It's just my perception, but I agree that the fringes of population are effected by their physical appearance. Fat ugly people do suffer and handsome athletic people are idolized, but the middle of the curve live normal average lives in general.

I am reading the webcomics now because I am not sure if Netflix will renew this or will take years to renew this. Hoping for the latter. Most Netflix anime originals takes 2 years to have new season.

Sounds like an interesting plot. I wish they send some positive message there against the body shaming thing. People have to feel beautiful and comfortable in the body that they have got. I would not like to trade for my body though mine is not what is idolized. I am comfortable in my own skin. I wish they would make shows that gets this message to people especially youth that we have to love what we are

It is free since webtoons only earns from ads. I am nervous for the Netflix renewal so I decided to read the webtoons instead since I cannot trust Netflix.` Webtoons are beating Marvel and DC because its free.

I decided to watch more Korean Animations and they all have traumatizing plots.
