A singer in Iran got arrested for a song he co-wrote

Postby Netherrealmer » 10 Oct 2022, 12:18

This song is the most listened song in Iran. It is subtitled in English.

Some Iranian immigrant abroad decided to make an English version

It is composed and sang by Shervin Hajipour and the lyrics are tweets of Iranians Youths who expressed why they are fighting. The song became popular in Iran overnight, so the government arrested Shervin. Now this song is being used by Protesters to fight the government.

The song is not limited to women's rights, It also tackled people wanting freedom, The near extinction of Asiatic Cheetahs, When the Iranian government banned and killed pet dogs, pollution, People who died of terrorist attacks and even Afghan people.

Dang! They arrest a lot of people in Iran. They must have a lot of prisons.

Do they have separate cells for hardened criminals versus people arrested for lesser crimes? Or is everybody who gets arrested just a lawbreaker and they all get lumped together? Good grief! Since they are not murderers, rapists, or engaged in gang-related criminal activities, the least they can do is put them under "house arrest".

House arrest is a very reasonable.
We have that in America.

I feel bad for the young man who was detained because of his desire to sing and convey the truth about the nation's current state of affairs. I can still remember having my medical mission in a Muslim country. There were so many limitations.

From this and similar reason, women hijab, Iran got kicked out from N women's rights group. Even Iran was accepted a month a go, latest violent suppression of protests was reason for expel. You can't say at table and talk about something and in same time do stuff against it.

Coldplay just covered this song as a way to sympathize with the Iranian women fighting for their rights and the men who supports them.

I heard that Iran was going to get rid of the "morality police". But I don't believe it. I think they are just saying that to stop the protests and to take the world's eyes off of them.

They started patrolling in 2006.

Imagine having a "job" where the main thing you do is check a woman's head covering or make sure they are not wearing tight pants or short dresses. I wonder how many guys signed up for that job. I'm not even a guy and I would apply for an easy job like that!

First and foremost, whether a woman wears a hijab or not is a personal choice and not something that must be forced upon her or result in her death. Women who don't cover their heads with a hijab are nonetheless respectable and don't dress provocatively.

My heart bleeds for the people of Iran. There's an Iranian lady in my city who's lived in Botswana for yonks. A few years ago, she told me she'd never return to Iran, but I didn't really pry in case it was something more personal than political. With the way the current regime is butchering more and more kids for protesting, I can see why she wouldn't want to o back there. I've not met many Iranians, but the few I've met are very cool and progressive people. It's so sad :(

There is not much in our news about Iran. For a while they were covering the protests. But now I don't hear anything. I don't know if anything has changed OR if Iran managed to somehow block off the media so the outsiders don't know what's happening.

Iran is always carrying issues of women chastity on their heads but deep inside them, they are so morally depraved that you can't even stand them.

The most I know about Iran is they ran out the Shah and Ayatollah Khomeini took over. Now all I hear in the news is Iran trying to provoke a war using the Israeli-Hamas conflict as a starting point/justification.

They better not try it. They should stick to oppressing their people like the case of this musician. Some quarters are just waiting for an excuse to just annihilate them.
