I believe you about the genre being a thing. I just haven't run across much of that sort of thing in TV shows, probably because there isn't as much in English.

Edit: I keep mixing Alice Oseman (author of Heartstopper) up with Rainbow Rowell (author of a different YA series). I was going to say that she is a grown woman, not a girl. She's 29. Looking at a picture of her I can see why you might call her that since she looks young, but she's an adult.

She is asexual/aromantic, which I thought was interesting. Her latest book, 'Loveless' is about that. Did you read somewhere that she was influenced by Japanese and Thai BL shows? All I can find says that it's mainly based on her own experiences, wanting more representation for queer teens.

I dont get the obsession of women's fascination with Mafia romance and Enemies to lovers, particularly focusing on bullies

For some reasons, women are insanely desiring the bad guy. They see a viable challenge in changing the bad guy. The good guy is not a challenge to them and it's nothing close to adventure.

Girls and women today tend to have lots of interest in romance or these young adults and paranormal romance novels as well.

It feeds their "I can fix him" fantasy. Taming a bad boy to be a good one and a Playboy to stick to one woman seem to find an audience.

It doesn't come out of nowhere. That trope gets promoted a lot. It used to be a thing that people would tell little girls that when boys were mean to them it was because they were interested in them. Many women now actively try to teach our daughters how unhealthy that idea is. Ever see the movie He's Just Not That Into You? It handles this well.

Another growing genre women are crazy about that I dont understand is Omegaverse. Its a romance genre where humans act like wolves.

Humans have 3 categories, The Dominant Alphas, Submissive Omegas and Normal Betas.

Betas only mate with betas. Alphas only mate with Omegas. During mating season, Omegas releases a scent that drives alphas crazy. Omegas take pills that can temporarily turn them into Betas so they can hide from alphas who wants to mate with them.
