Squid Game: America

Postby Netherrealmer » 01 Jan 2025, 21:43

at the final Season of the Hit Korean thriller Squid Game, There will be an American character who will appear, he is one of the VIPs and he will bridge to a spin off Squid Game : America. Its not a remake but a spin off set on the same Universe. So characters from the Korean Version who wont die might appear in the American spin off.

The children's games to be used are American, David Fincher will be directing. OG creator of Squid game will be consultant.

Purist are mad because they thought its a remake. They were mad too when The reality show spin off Squid Game: The challenge is created but it became a hit. The purist seems to be a vocal minority since they are the ones complaining about season 2 but Season 2 had surpassed ratings of season 1.

If the US spin off succeeds, Other countries will have their own spin off and join the Squid Game Universe.

Something similar might soon be made in India. Show makers here are often quick to copy Western and now Korean trends.
Or may be, a movie as well !

I had an old boss who liked to say: “Don't argue with success. If something works, 'bottle it and sell it'.”

I've just finished watching season 2. I enjoyed it and look forward to seeing another season. I'd definitely watch an American spin off.

Would you believe that an actor took a part and didn't even get paid? He was willing to accept the part without a salary. That's how popular this show is. The actors and actresses know they will get excellent exposure. It should help their careers.

I always enjoy the squid game series. My wife thought it was a weird show I was watching until she got caught up in the action. Now she enjoys it

There is a rumor that Leonardo DiCaprio will appear in Squid Game Season 3, and he will also appear on the Squid Game America spin-off.

That rumor followed up by a denial from Netflix. They are probably haggling. Di Caprio is holding out until he gets the money he wants.

Well I know I won't be watching it  Can't they come up with anything original for once instead of just doing remakes?

Its not a remake its an expanded Universe, The creator is involved. Its in the same Universe as the Korean version and a character from Season 3 will be part of it.

Also we will Have Squidgame 1987 which is the prequel set on the first Squid game, 28th Squid Game which is origin story of Front Man, Squid Game World which Global Winners will compete and Squid Game the challenge season 2 which is the reality show. They are making a Cinematic Universe.

Netflix will not let go of their cashcow since season 2 made more money than season 1.

Expansion? I guess it's like Star Trek and Star Wars.

Once it is a hit and sells well, they will have many remakes and spin offs. My elder daughter is a big fan and I am sure that she looks forward to more remakes and soin off. She also felt that the Season 1 was better.

Interesting. From memory I think it was implied in season 1 by one of the VIP guests that there were games held all over the world.

Thats why a season 3 VIP will appear in Squid Game USA. USA is technically season 4. People speculate there will be an Indian and Spanish version and winners of those shows will appear in Squid game the world.

This remake and the English version of Squid Game US is making buzz on many forum platforms that discuss entertainment and TV shows. The original show was a big hit and they are going to cash it in all possible ways. I read online that the Indian version would be a reality soon. India is a big market for Netflix and that will attract a huge viewership if Indian version comes.

There is no remake. Its a spin off sharing the same Universe, Surviving characters from the Korean version might appear as the same character in Squid Game USA. They wont remake because it will cause a white washing controversy. No one wants to give asian roles to white actors anymore. Remember how it almost ruined Scarlet Johansson's career.

Squidgame USA is technically season 4.

Also the endgame is Squidgame the world which will put winners of different countries together.
