Back in 2013, The videogame the last of US became the number 1 game. It sold millions of copies and people praise it for its story. It is about the world under a zombie apocalypse caused by mushrooms that grows on people. It is a horror game but people call it as the greatest platonic love story. When we say platonic, It means love but not a romantic way. It's basically about a father loving a girl like she is his real daughter.

It is about a 51 year old mercenary who lost his daughter because the cops thought she is infected, when they just Survived a car crash. He is depressed and lonely from that lost. To forget the pain, he becomes a mercenary.

For some amount of money, He was tasked to escort Ellie, a 14 year old girl who is immune from the fungi to a group of scientists called fireflies. He have to deliver her alive to a group of scientist who make the vaccine. They are not suppose to get along because Joel is conservative while Ellie is a Lesbian but going through zombies and hostile humans will make them develop a strong father and daughter bond.



The zombies are not the focus of the story, it is the father and daughter bond that will form between opposite people who are not suppose to get along.

My favorite moment in the game, is When they get to New York and the whole place turned into a forest with a large giraffe population.


Here is the dilemma, To make the vaccine against the fungi,Scientists must extract Ellie's Brain, So Joel will have to choose between saving humanity or saving his new "daughter"

The story is very Oscar bait and there are attempts to make it a movie but they end up turning it into a tv series instead. It wont be a terrible adaptation because the writer of the Game makes the script of the tv version.

Some fans are upset that the actress chosen to play Ellie is not pretty but the director chose talent over aesthetics.

Pedro Pascal (Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey got cast as Joel and Ellie.


They said it is faithful to the videogames, except from the fact the characters from the game are good looking while they chose to have realistic looking people on this tv series.

I have heard of this game but never played it. The story sounds very interesting and looks like I should try playing it. I have heard rumors of the game being adapted for the screen, but I did not realize it was coming to HBO.

In the videogame, Joel have a Pseudo love interest and she is hot.



HBO Max decided to make her realistic.... They said no woman will be glam in Zombie apocalypse because they have to tough it up to survive. So they decided to uglify the actress playing her.

I once have this game on console(PS3) but I didn't play it my brother did. I actually got the game by mistake so it didn't interest me a bit. If I am to fit myself into Joel's shoe I would rather save the girl.

The creator of the game is the writer and director of this tv series, so there is a guarantee they will give justice to the source material.



Critics and fans have spoken, this must be the greatest videogame adaptation. I mean the writer of the videogame made the screenplay for the tv show. Not some Hollywood writer who wants to abuse their creative liberties.

Whoa, I didn't know Anna Torv was going to be in this. Might have to check this out since I have seen a few of her shows and really enjoyed her performance in them. Honestly have not heard much about this show and with a 100% rotten tomatoes score, I'm surprised it's not being more heavily advertised.

It trended on Twitter for 3 days so this could be HBO max's next hit. I just watched it and its good. The acting is high level. The first episode focuses on Joel's relationship with his real daughter. I think next episode will focus on Ellie. Even if you never played the videogames, watch this adaptation.

Pedro Pascal is the first actor to have hit shows and movies in multiple streaming platforms.

They got renewed for another season already. Looks like it's doing decently well, although I still don't see a lot of everyday watchers talking about it. I feel like HBO Max should do some more advertising for their shows. Compared to other networks, their advertising is minimal and they certainly have the budget for it.

Their subreddit is very active and they trend on twitter a lot so it is doing well for an HBO max show.

Ya, I don't doubt that. But it will need a more widespread audience for it to become even more popular. Right now, it seems like they are only targeting a specific group of fans. Other (everyday people, non-fans) aren't watching this show because they don't know about it. HBO Max should step up on advertising. More promotions will do this one good if it's as good as what online reviewers are saying.

I am still bitter that Resident Evil never had this treatment, All adaptation it got are from people who doesn't play the games. Ends up with disrespectful adaptations.

Episode 1 alone can win Emmys This is from the first episode where Joel's daughter died not from zombies but from a cop who got orders to shoot injured people.



The zombies are not the main focus of this show but Joel and Ellie's friendship. The concept of found family.

I would let Ellie choose---either she can sacrifice herself for the good of humanity, or sacrifice all humanity and die a horrible cannibal death. (I'd try to make her choose to sacrifice herself, but it has to be her choice.)
