Top Plan meat-free days.

Postby MattTolentino02 » 30 Aug 2022, 16:41

Not everyone has the willpower and interest to become a lifetime vegetarian or vegan; having meat-free days instead is an easier goal to achieve without the need to compromise the dietary lifestyle that you enjoy.

Everybody is aware that the consumption of fruits, vegetables and nuts cost way less than having meat-based meals. However, this is not the sole reason why more people should endeavor to have meat-free days. The additional, science-proven benefits of eating just fruits, vegetables, rice, grains and nuts on specific days are:

1. You'll get to taste dishes that you've never eaten before
2. Lowered cholesterol levels
3. Helps with weight loss
4. Improves bowel health
5. Introduces you to a new circle of people (and who doesn't want new friends?) - especially vegans, vegetarians, fruitarians, etc.

By incorporating meat-free days into your lifestyle, you have nothing to lose (and you'll actually save some money!). Give it a try and if you feel like your body is agreeable to it (no sudden hunger pangs), then that is great news indeed.

I think this is a good idea for me. Avoid eating meat can be more beneficial to our health. Also it reduces the chances of getting canser.

We have meatless Mondays here in USA, but I don't go by the days.
We got Meatless Monday, Taco Tuesday, Wing Wednesday, etc. :D

When all my kids were all at home I usually tried to pick 2 days out of the week to have a meatless meal. Mainly because it cut down on the grocery bill. People should plan meat-free days just to save money. :D

I am a vegetarian so I plan to cut on expenses because veggies are not very cheap too so I like to buy the veggies that we use more in bulk and like to store these in a way so they don't get spoiled soon

I'm on veggie diet twice a week. I usually eat beans, tofu and mixed vegetables. I do that for health reason and also support sustainability.

I am not a meat lover and I already do that. I prefer to get my proteins from other sources like chickpeas, chia seeds, beans, lentils... I don't consider not eating meat a sacrifice, sometimes vegetarian dishes can be extremely delicious, but the secret is in seasoning it well.

I don't actually plan a meat-free day like Meatless Mondays. But I do try to go for meat-free meals at least twice a week. You will notice the difference in your grocery bill. Food is not getting cheaper but you can eat cheaper food. :)

Is tuna considered meat-free? I eat alot of tuna salad 2 to 3 days each week.

Then, one roommate demands marinara instead of meat sauce.

Also, I consume alot of potatoes.

I'm pretty sure tuna counts as meat, but tuna salad is still pretty frugal.

Marinara is usually meat free as well.

Yes, I knew that marinara was safe, but was not sure about tuna. ;)

Honestly, it's up to you in that regard. You can embrace pescetarianism for your meat free days and there's nothing wrong with that at all. A vegan might object if you were to serve him a plate of catfish stir fry, but you get to choose what meal plans work for you. The OPs information still applies, as it will still offer different health benefits and be economical to rotate your proteins.
