Based in my own experience, I saved more money from expensive appliance and clothes because they last longer. All of the cheap appliances I ever purchased are broken now. When appliances, furniture and clothing are more expensive they tend to be made with more durable and high quality product. The cheap shirts I purchased months ago have armpit holes now. The expensive branded shirt I purchase has been flawless for 7 years.

There are some exceptions though, Apple Products are expensive but disposable.

Yes its true I even purchased a Samsung television set at very expensive price till now still working. It's been 15 years now since I bought it

Yes, i bought a branded t shirt and a few working pants which cost me a few hundreds. These clothes are durable, i had been wearing tgem for 8 years, no holes just fading

I have to agree like buying branded lighting bulb or branded slippers usually last many times compare to the cheaper ones or a battery perhaps. Like we bought 1 branded and lasted 4 times longer than the cheap one which lead us to savings.

Even the producers of the product have the same motive at the back of their mind. They want people to keep buying their products so their intentions is to produced for people that needs short term products so they can keeping bringing money their way

I will use branded products for this, but here cobbler made shoes last longer than branded.

When I was younger, my parents paid for the best hair stylist for me. My do was so healthy and pretty. Yes, they paid a pretty penny. The department store was called Kaufmann's.

When I moved away from home and on my own, all I could afford was a chain salon called Great Clips. They cost $17.00. They do not wash, color or perm. They butchered my do. Most stylists there are right out of school and clueless with no experience.

So, I am proud to say that I have saved up money to go to a classy salon on Monday, August 22. I cannot wait! My self-esteem needs it. The other day, my roommates and I were shopping and one roommate told me that I needed a baseball hat.

I totally agree, @Netherrealmer! People always feel I must have a lot of money because I prefer pricier products. But I only buy more expensive brands because they are more durable. However, I used to be a huge Apple fan and supporter, but feel it's just become greedy, all about the bottom line. I don't think it's as cutting edge or as durable as it used to be. Don't let's forget; it's OVERPRICED!!!

I don't mind to pay more for a good quality product, in fact I often prfer them because they last long and we end up saving money but as you said, some things are overpriced and we should pay attention so we won't pay an exorbitant price for something that worth less, sometimes brands take advantage of their well established name to overprice their goods.

I see it with my Italian good brand clothes and shoes, purchased among expensive sports shops when I still was living in Italy. I still own a wind jacket that my parents had purchased me 35 years ago (ok, I never gained weight as years passed by, only lost weight ). I own Aasics shoes purchased in 2015. And many other clothes. But I also still own very cheap clothes, no brand, purchased when I was living in Argentina 21 years ago (they are very good clothes in spite of no brand, but the cheap price was a peculiarity of the peso before it having lost the parity with the dollar).

there are very good quality clothes with no brand at all, I have clothes with 20 years that I still use and look like new, some people say that I have many clothes but that is because I conserve my clothes for years. I have one espadrilles from Replay brand that have 17 years, I wore them this week and my colleagues thought they were new, when I bought it they were expensive but they last long.

Dear friends, both of you are right. It's true: the more we spend for an item, the more we spare in the future (when the item owns both quality and price, I want to say when the high price means high quality). But poor people can't afford expensive items. I remember a close friend of mine in Italy, her couple living with a small salary of her husband, while she was still searching for a job. She could afford only cheap items and was forced to substitute them quickly, as they quickly wore out. But she couldn't help but purchasing what she could afford. If she were in Brazil, it could be different, as in my new country it's incredibly easy to get loans for many purposes.

Brands are expensive, because they make products which last longer, yet I foud local made lasts longer, they are cheap too; but quality also matters.
