Are you sure you counted right?

There should have been 58,823 full rows plus just over a half row at the end. This only has approximately 3300 rows with one extra owl on the last full row and one single owl on the final row. Your count is off somewhere. This is perhaps almost as entertaining as popping bubble wrap.

That is pretty interesting!
Now a question (not very innovative):
Did you use any AI tool to help in this site creation?

Wow!! I kept scrolling and it seemed endless. I love owls and find them very intriguing. 11 in a row...not sure how many rows for a million. My head is spinning with all the calculations :D

Thanks OldGuy, the owls are generated by code and there should be one million of them. Are you sure you scrolled down correctly and counted every page? If you keep pressing CTRL + - on your keyboard you can fit a lot more owls on a single page, which makes them a lot easier to count. I will actually consider reducing the size of the owls, so that there are more on each page.

ptrikha21 wrote:Did you use any AI tool to help in this site creation?

Thanks ptrikha21, I coded the first version of the site myself in Visual Studio code. Then I uased ChatGPT to help with some code generation an to get answers to help resolve some issues. Using Chat GPT made the process much easier.

raaman wrote:What is the use of this? What purpose does this serve?

Thanks for your question raaman. It's a novelty entertainment site, just something a little different for people to view. It's not a site that people will spend a lot of time on or visit everyday :)

I made a partial count and measured the movement of the right side page scroll compared to the full range to estimate the results. It just does not have enough space to accommodate a full million images.

The default size displayed 17 images per line. Reducing the page to 25% brought it up to 69 images per line and just for comparison, enlarging the size to 500% displayed 3 images per line. That happens to be the full range on my computer.

I tried the count with 69 images per line and again, the scroll bar did not allow enough movement to account for a full million images. I suppose that side scroll bar does not move as consistently through the entire page as I thought. I did note that the final line was about 3/4s of the way across which is exactly where it should be with 69 images per line.
1,000,000/69=14492.75 lines

What happend with last penultimate line? Or it is last line but broken? Anywhere it is much longer than other. You don't have matrix like 100 x 10 000

You could try tapping your mouse towards the bottom of the scroll bar to move it down one screen view at a time, that way you will see that there are a lot more rows, than what appears when you drag the scroll bar down.

Thanks mrki444, I'd seen that and tried to fix it with the help of ChatGPT, anything I did to fix it made the display worse in some other area of the page. I haven't been able to figure out exactly what is causing that or how to fix it just yet. It does annoy me, so I would like to get it fixed.

Maybe is just rendering in browser problem. How ever is it part of some loop like for each? Maybe is used some new DOM element which is not compatibile with Edge?

Thanks mrki444. The owls are displayed using a piece of JavaScript code.

Code: Select all
<script>
        const emoji = "🦉";
        const count = 1_000_000;
        const container = document.getElementById("emojiContainer");
        container.textContent = emoji.repeat(count);
    </script>

The issue is also visible in Chrome and Brave.

That's great, thank you very much mrki444. I have updated the JavaScript with that approach and it has resolved the issue. Thanks again, much appreciated.

So looks property text was a problem in code. Maybe since emoji is data type char.
