I use Medium to publish original content and republish my content that appears elsewhere on the web. Medium links are respected by the search engines. So if your blog is not getting enough traffic try republishing your posts via Medium and directing traffic from there to your blog. Medium allows multiple accounts and publications. It's free to create an account. There is an earnings program but not all countries are eligible. Even so, it's still a great publishing platform.

Medium has a Partner Program where you can earn from your articles. However they use the Stripe payment system which unfortunately is not available in certain countries, so many writers can not participate.

In listening to these complaints, Medium.com has implemented TIPPING! (It's in Beta mode.)

You can use Patreon, PayPal, Ko-Fi (or whatever works for you).
At the bottom of your articles, there is a button that says "Give a tip".
When the reader clicks, they are directed to where you have directed them.

EX: I send my readers to https://ko-fi.com/cmoneyspinner to buy me a cup of coffee.
(NOTE: I am not sure if the tipping system works with a crypto wallet address.)

(UPDATE 09/17/2024) Medium has expanded the number of countries who participate in their Partners Program. I don't know all of the countries, but I noticed that after that announcement a lot of Indian writers started joining.

IF you are on Medium or thinking about signing up to be a writer, I wanted to let you know about a publication called “Sweet Pubs”. They accept short posts (minimum of 300 words).

Most of my content on Medium is 750+ words. I was happy to find this publication because … many of the social blogging platforms (like Bubblews, PersonaPaper, Virily, etc.) where I used to share short posts SHUT DOWN!

That meant that I have a lot of content saved in my files with had no online home. With Sweet Pubs, I found a new home for all of that content. There might be other pubs like that on Medium, but this one accepts republished content. It satsfies my needs so I have not looked for other publications.

I'm not sure why. I can tell you that when I started with Medium, it was slow. In the beginning, I mainly used it to republish content from my blogs. But then I started reading and leaving comments. I think commenting played a part in improving my visibility on the platform. On your writer's profile, it displays both your articles and your comments. A person might pick up on a comment you made and that could lead them to your other writing.

I also decided to create a Medium publication and invite other writers to contribute. People started approaching me and asking me to add them as contributors. That started a relationship. I was also contributed to publications by others.

But I can tell you now it has not been easy for me and I have been there for 10 years.
