Summer Food

Postby staples9 » 12 Aug 2015, 19:54

Sometimes during the long summer days I make a special dessert called a blueberry tart made with fresh blueberries. Do you have one thing that you like to cook on long summer days?

The ideal Summer food is those that are not spicy, cool and helps to cool down the body. I add lot of onions in food as they are best to beat the heat and prevents dehydration. Lot of fruits like water melon, lemon, cucumber etc. should be added to our menu

Here in the Philippines we have this all time favorite refreshment called halo halo (mixed ingredients) mixed with crushed ice, evaporated milk.

On long summer days, I actually hate *cooking* because it makes the house so much hotter.

I tend to roast meats at night and keep them in the fridge for the next day. I do love making lettuce wraps for dinner in the summer! Take a large leaf of lettuce (or chard, or a collard), lay it on my plate and put in all sorts of fillings, depending on what I have on hand... cold cooked meat, avocado slices, cucumbers, mango slices, salsa, etc. Then I roll up the leaf or fold it in half and eat it like a taco.

It has been crazy hot, so we been having salads or a sandwich, too hot to cook. Or if cooking it needs to be done early in the morning when it is still cool.

I like to eat cool stuff when it is really hot, stuff like salads and fresh spring rolls. I usually do a grilled chicken salad, chicken actually grilled on the outdoor grill. gives that summer cookout feel :D

Ahahahaha! This is not food (you made me laugh)

In the summer I love to eat salads and grilled in my backyard. I liked that it was always summer, but we are already mid-August ... in a short time we are in the Christmas ...

My diet is definitely different in the summer. I eat a lot more fruit, especially strawberries and raspberries. I also eat a lot more yoghurt. I eat less chocolate too because I can't stand the mess it makes when it melts. Wonder why I weigh the same, I should lose pounds :?

Hi Friends,
Mostly I prefer to take curd rise in summer and it is suggestible in our place and we drink more butter milk in summer. Other than this we take water melon fruit or juice twice in the week to reduce the summer hot and thrist.

I don't know about cooking, but I tend to eat more salads and cold meats like ham and smoked salmon. I just don't feel like hot food in the summer, and I prefer lighter meals.
