Is the graffiti vandalism?

Postby prometeheus » 11 Jul 2015, 18:52

What are your thoughts on this? Is it art or a nuisance?

It depends what they are drawing/creating.
I dont think tags of people is artwork because it is simply putting there name onto something which isnt theres which is obviously wrong.
But i think they are many works of art which are simply amazing, i knwo it is probably againest the law to graffiti anywhere apart from certain areas where i is permitted.
But i think some teenagers do it just because it is banned /illegal in certain areas. It makes it cool to do it because you are being a rebel...

I think it is a form of art but graffiti artists sometimes tend to go overboard with all the freedom and rights they are borderline trespassing when they place their art in a private property. In some countries, it is nice that they have their own walls where they can express themselves and draw.

Graffiti is an art, in some of the countries it is restricted. Yeah it is not good when painted on the private properties. Drawing and painting is really a good art and must use it for good cause.

It depens from where people like to make this kind of 'art' .Many times I like to see them and if they look as some artistic work, but if they are not on 'the right place', they can be very unattractive.

Although graffiti is considered popart, and the story of a people, if it is done on someone ellse's property, it is by definition, vandalism. If it's done on public property, maybe not...depends on the content. There are some things that people (especially children) should not have to look at, if they choose not to.
