Do children ride electric scooters in your area?

Postby mrki444 » Yesterday, 20:24

In my country, children love electric scooters. It is often a favorite gift. Unfortunately, there are a lot of accidents. Children fall off scooters, break traffic signs and sometimes even hit cars. Despite public calls that electric scooters are dangerous and some legal restrictions and penalties, parents still buy them. Do you know that scooters can reach speeds of 70 km/h and what are the consequences if you fall off one at that speed?

I our country, you cannot ride electric scooter on the public street without a license but you can tide electric bicycle. A lot of kids, especially above 10 years ride electric bicycle.

I haven't seen too many around here tbh. I see regular bikes and skateboards a lot more, and I'll also see a lot of kids just walking too. I don't doubt that they have them around here, I just haven't seen them in use.

Seeing an electric scooter over here is like waiting for superman to come save the day, and we all know superman isn't real 😅

Yes, there are lots of electric scooters on the roads in my area. They zip in and out between traffic, sometimes the riders are dimly lit and seem to appear out of nowhere when you are driving. In my opinion they are extremely dangerous and the regulations around them should be stricter.

Mainly just regular scooters. I see adults on the electric ones in the nearest big city, where they have scooters for the public to hire but children aren't allowed on those. I think people have been a bit scared off owning electric ones because there have been news stories about cheap ones causing house fires.

You can't ride them on the street here either, only on the footpath.

With e-bikes you used to be able to ride them on the street but a stupid new law just came in so now you can only ride them if you have a driver's license and you can only go under 15km an hour, which is unsafe because it makes the bike unstable. It doesn't make sense since you're allowed to ride a regular bike faster than that.

Why drive so slow? Bike or e-bike is much more safer than a electric scooter.

It's the law. Like I said, it's a stupid law.
