Wishing on Birthdays

Postby bestwriter » 04 Nov 2025, 23:35

I would prefer if my connections kept in touch with me the whole year through rather than just wishing me on my birthday and then forgetting me That seems to be the trend these days and those volley of calls on one day and then silence rest of the year - does it sound normal to you?

Absolutely, staying connected year-round creates more meaningful relationships.

It will be a task for me to wish people on birthdays as the number runs into hundreds.

For the very fact that they remembered your birthday and reached out is something that should be appreciated.

I would be happier if someone remembers me in the year and not just one day in a year

I totally understand that things that are remembered for just one day and then silence for a whole year is really annoying. It's like people have set alarms only for birthdays. I would like a real relationship of regular communication, not just sweet words one day.

When someone remembers your birthday and sends you a message or calls you, that's a very special thing. Not everyone remembers those dates no matter how close you are. It shows that you were on their mind and cared about wishing them well. Even if they didn't send a gift or do something big, that effort is still appreciated. Most people are busy with their own lives so if you see someone stopping by for a little while for you, don't take it personally. Be grateful even for that short message because the heart is more important than the package.

Yeah, that'd be the ideal scenario. However, I believe we're all guilty of NOT keeping in touch with friends and family. So I don't complain when people I've not spoken to for ages wish me a happy birthday. Actually, I appreciate it.

Wishing someone on their birthday and forgetting them rest of the year is possible if one keeps a birthday calender and this is no indicator that one is remembered. Sad but true

I would anyday want people to be in my life throughout the year and not just on my birthday.

Birthday messages are nice, but if there’s no contact the rest of the year, it can feel a bit strange.

I think if you asked anyone, that's what they'd say too. BUT life's NOT life that sadly... life gets hectic and modern life gets in the way of staying in touch all the time, priorities change etc. You don't like it, I get that. But personally, I understand because I too find it difficult to stay in touch with people all the time. So I figure, who am I to complain? Do YOU stay in regular contact with your loved ones? If you genuinely do and they don't reciprocate, then you may have a case. If not, then I don't see why you'd take issue with people not being able to stay in contact with you everyday of your life.
