Moody People

Postby Spontaneo » 28 Aug 2025, 19:02

Do you have to be around moody people very often?

I do.

How do you deal with such people?

People find fault with myself no matter how nice I am to the people.

I think it is important to remember that you are not responsible for their mood and it is not your fault. The other side of that coin is that they are not responsible for your mood. It is on each of us to look after our own state of mind and not to blame others for how we feel.

I don't tend to hang around moody people for long. I find they bring the mood right down with them. In fact, I don't have any friends with mood swings as I'm almost always cheerful and gravitate more towards similar people.

Quite often, though, another person's moodiness can affect your health.

For example, there are a few people from the cafe where I used to work demanding that I go to the cafe every week! If I had wanted to be at the cafe, I would have never quit. But, I am miserable there.

The people are mean. They need to know that I do have a life, and that my life does not revolve around the cafe!

But, the people refuse to take no for an answer.

I understand that being around people with mood swings can be exhausting and can affect your peace of mind. Even when you try to be kind, others may find fault for no reason.

Try to set boundaries for time and emotions; if you offer help, do so intentionally and openly so that you don’t take the blame personally. Use calm conversations to explain how they make you feel; if you disagree, take a break to protect your mental health.

Remember, self-respect is not disrespect; choosing to stay out of arguments or ask for help from others is wise. Continue to be kind but be mindful of your own uniqueness; children learn from your example, not their criticism.

I was just thinking about boundaries. Tonight, my roommate started to boss myself around and I just wanted to scream. She is demanding and she bosses myself around every day. I have had enough.

Living with people with ups and downs is a real chore and you may find yourself getting frustrated for no reason. It's better to know how to protect yourself mentally so that you don't carry burdens that are not yours. Set your boundaries well and don't let their moods disrupt your day. If someone is angry or down, give them space but don't get involved until you lose peace. Keep your energy clean and positive because if you start being driven by people's moods, you will get tired early. Everyone has their own burden, don't carry others' on top of yours.

Absolutely, well said! Maintaining our own peace is essential.
