As a matter of fact, our indigenous Light Combat Aircraft manufacturing is work in progress.
There is a company called Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
The delivery of these Aircrafts has been delayed and analysts point to Red Tapism and a lack of work culture (HAL is a Government Firm).
Now, Government has woke up to the idea of more private participation(Tatas, L&T, Mahindra Group etc) but frankly, India as a Nation needs to do much more for Indigenous Science and technology initiatives.
Yes I agree that our scientists have done a lot but the whole ecosystem needs to do a lot.
So to bridge the gap, we do need some external fighter planes.
I am not aware about the Red Sea incident.
