What To Use In Place Of Peanut Butter?

Postby Spontaneo » 26 May 2025, 02:16

I need your opinion.

I have been weaning myself off of solid foods little by little as I only have one tooth left on top, which gets pulled in June. Then, I am attempting to lose weight too!

So, I rely on homemade protein shakes.

My weight refuses to budge due to the peanut butter.

What may I use in place of peanut butter? (no protein powder or almond butter, OK)

Thank you!

Are there low fat butters available in your place.
Or unsweetened Peanut Butter?

Or may be you do not forego but reduce your intake?

Is sweetened peanut butter a thing? Mine doesn't have any sugar added. It usually doesn't here.

Spontaneo my suggestions would have been protein powder or almond butter since those are what I mostly use so I don't know what to suggest.Cashew butter and other nut butters are mostly going to be as fatty as peanut butter and more expensive. Almond meal maybe? That adds protein and calcium. It can be expensive though. A friend used to grind almonds for me in her fancy blender (most blenders can't grind nuts) because that was cheaper than buying the almond meal.

You can try unsweetened Chestnut spread. Naturally low in fat compared to other nut spreads.

The only ingredient that I can think of is honey. Yes?

Honey can indeed be a tasty alternative to peanut butter, but it's high in sugar.

My family physician told myself to use honey in my iced tea and coffee, so honey should not be too bad.

If your physician suggested honey, then it should fit into your plan.

I used to eat peanut butter but last year I got a virus (hepatitis A) and need to stay in the hospital, the only food they told me to avoid was peanuts due to a toxin. Since then I have replaced peanut butter for almond butter and I honestly prefer almond, it is more expensive than peanut butter but its health benefits worth the price.

A few mornings ago, I was weak and needed a little something to consume. So, I had a half of a peanut butter sandwich. I had an early appointment to attend. I got extremely sick at the appointment and asked to be taken to my home. I simply rested all day with some ginger ale.
