How To Sweeten Tea Without The Sugar: Suggestions

Postby Spontaneo » 19 Jan 2025, 02:24

I really love sweet tea, iced sweet tea to be exact. However, I hate all that sugar,

I also don't like what is recommended in place of sugar in sweet tea, such as:

honey
stevia
cinnamon
vanilla extract
packets of artificial sweetener

Do you sweeten iced tea in a certain way? If so, how?

Sometimes when I drink green tea, I add a little honey to it. The taste is great and I also like to think that it is healthy to get that small spoonful of honey.

The best and only way is to make use of natural sweeteners like you have mentioned above.

A member on https://www.weightlossbuddy.com told myself to mix fruit juice in my iced tea to have sweet iced tea. She is a freaking genius!

I have a huge bottle of pineapple juice and a huge bottle of apple juice that I have yet to use!

Yay!

Jaggery which we call Gur in our language is a good option, it should be organic and tastes good

Today, I mixed pineapple juice with unsweetened iced tea. Tasted delicious!

The fruit juice method that I spoke of previously just does not taste all that good. I still have a sweetener problem.

As sweet tea is a mood booster, I have been drinking alot of sweet tea and have been in a really good mood. However, today, I wanted to find out how that I would do without the sweet tea and have been miserable all day.

Again, do you have any other substitute?

All these are good options. Now here we also have lesser processed Sugars (Desi Khand is one option) plus Gur (Jaggery).
However, while Jaggery is a good option, it needs to be added carefully when making tea as it can cause certain problems in Tea making and cause a kind of curdling.

I have never heard of either. Interesting though.

Yes and it is increasingly becoming a preferred option as it is healthier.

Do you have any ideas of what to find in the United States to sweeten drinks?

Healthier options will be monk fruit powder, honey, and stevia.

Thanks for the tips, but out of all 3, the only one that I can tolerate is honey. :( :(

At the beginning, I mentioned most of the available sweeteners.

An option that I have never done is coconut sugar. Have you?

I have not seen Coconut sugar here although if this is an emerging trend, it could be available in some niche or exotic store.

An acquaintance told myself about coconut sugar but the acquaintance said that I probably could not afford coconut sugar. I didn't appreciate how the person assumed how much money that I have.
