I know someone who doesn't like traveling alone, me on the other hand, while I enjoy traveling with others, I usually prefer traveling alone. This way I can just be lost on my thoughts while I play some good songs and not have to worry about someone else, or just watch a movie before I get to my destination.

I've traveled coast to coast in the US and have lived in 27 states. I also lived for brief visits in Mexico and Canada. Well, I didn't die there so I have to say I lived there during my visits. I've set up residence in 6 states over the years.

I have always traveled alone and prefer it that way. There have been many times the journey itself became exciting episodes themselves long before reaching any planned destinations. Most of those episodes could never have happened with extra bodies on the trip.

Most of my detours involved my favorite activity I call Angel Duty. I really enjoy running across some stranger with some emergency situation, helping them get through whatever it was and then vanishing as fast as I can leaving them wondering where that came from. Several of those episodes included life saving situations. I never ask for compensation. I just get a high that I can't get any other way after such episodes. Since some of those episodes have taken multiple hours, I could not have done so if I was not traveling alone.

This topic is kind-of funny. Years ago, when I needed to travel alone, I strapped a huge teddy bear in the front seat passenger side to make people think that I had a person on the passenger side and not alone!
