What a game of Cricket it was.
Venue : Chennai in India (Southern part of India).
Teams : India faced Aussies where both of the teams had this as their 1st match of this Cricket ODI World Cup 2023.
Aussies started pretty well, but lost quick wickets in the middle.
Ravindra Jadeja picked 3 important wickets. Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav also took two wickets each.
Hardik Pandya, Ashwin and Mohammad Siraj took 1 wicket each.
Aussies made 199 runs, well below par.

India started terribly. Josh Hazelwood - 2 wickets and Mitchell Starc - 1 wicket reduced India to 2 for 3.
Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer each fell for a duck(no score).
Then K.L.Rahul - 97 Not Out and Virat Kohli - 85 steadied and built up the innings.
Finally India won by 6 wickets.
An exciting match.

I am happy that my country won, the pitch was a slow one, as typical in the subcontinent, with some sudden bounces for the spinner.

It is a good victory that will boost the morale of our cricketers nevertheless.

I watched the Aussies bat and then switched off the TV for evening chores and tea.. I was a bit delayed to start with Indian batting. I was shocked to see 4/3 when we sat down to watch. But then Virat Kohli and KLRahul took us to the victory. It was interesting match. The pitch was a slow one.

Well, Josh Hazlewood and Starc did gave initial jitters to India, but it was overcome by K.L.Rahul and Kohli.
In the second match vs Afghanistan, Rohit Sharma was at his best. He scored the highest match runs, a century, got the man of the match award and broke 3 records as well.

Yes it is on 14th October. It is likely to be a keen contest with both teams having good batsmen, bowlers and a few all rounders.

I just checked the schedule and it is just one game per day. Why? I don't follow cricket so I wonder why. Maybe players need more time for rest?

On one of the days, we had two matches. Most matches are Day and Night.
A lot of revenue is from TV Broadcast and now the norm- Digital or OTT Broadcast; which for this cup is on Disney + Hotstar (Star TV Network: Remember Rupert Murdoch).
So it is better to have one match a day.
Plus there are venues all across India- South,North, West, Centre and East.
So why to lose on viewership with more than a match per day.

I missed this match of India , but kept myself updated with the scores online. I did catch up with match highlights later. I stayed glued to other two matches if India. Yay! We won all three so far.

Yes, two games on the weekend.
The South Africa vs England match is the more exciting one.
South Africa have made a mammoth 399 runs in 50 overs but England seems to be giving a tough fight.

Yes, although the wicket at Newlands, Capetown was not really a good cricketing wicket.
There was a bit of luck plus the great performances by Siraj and Bumrah was very instrumental in the Indian team winning the match.
