Have you heard of the World Dwarf Games?

Postby Jem Smith » 28 Sep 2023, 09:33

The World Dwarf Games took place in Cologne in Germany earlier this year.

The Australian team co-captain Samantha Lily was excited to participate because like many people born with dwarfism she was often unable to participate in sport as a child because of her height. Athletes from more than 20 countries compete in the games. The first one was held in the US in 1993.

I hadn't heard about it until earlier this year and was curious if other people knew about it.

It is the first time I have heard about these games, well, having their own games will make the game more fair for them.

Wow, I hadn't heard of the World Dwarf Games before, sounds like a great event, well done to all involved. From the photos in the article it certainly looks like they are all enjoying themselves.

Great event! Here is something little different.
This is image from even in Bosnia and Herzegovina where over 1000 people with name Ivan (female version Ivana) were at same place. Ivan and Ivana are very popular names in Bosnia and many songs are about them.

Last year was over 2000 and they set new Guiness record.

Excellent idea for an event, well done to them, at least it would be easy to introduce yourself to other even goers :)

The dwarf games gives these people a sense of belonging and boosts their mental wellbeing. It's a good one.

It is a good thing that this set of people are being given a chance to express themselves in sports. It is a beautiful thing and it is good they are not discriminated against.
