How forced break has made it difficult for wrestlers in India

Postby anilmr » 14 Aug 2020, 17:18

Top Indian wrestlers have said that competition time lost due to the coronavirus pandemic has made it more challenging for those who are yet to qualify for the postponed Tokyo Olympics. The training camp was postponed since top wrestlers were not willing to travel due to the COVID-19 threat. But the news that the camp will be starting soon will certainly bring relief to the wrestlers who have already qualified. One top Indian wrestler said, "It's good that the camp is starting. We have to learn to live with coronavirus".

I feel we all will have to learn to live with coronavirus, how about you?

We must and that is only true. This virus will stay with us all time. When we find vaccine (even some are already made) it will be become like flu and other disease which can be cured. Just one on list.

Things have to start somewhere. Many of the Sports persons must be living off their savings. Yet that cannot continue for long.
I think that we would indeed learn to live in the changed circumstances, though cautiously.

Kavita Devi got fired from WWE because she got stock in India taking care of her Husband who got covid. So wwe replaced her with younger female Indian wrestlers.

One needs to be consistent with practice and fitness regime in sports and any break can have an adverse effect. We have seen that even injuries and breaks after that make them go down with performance and it takes a while to come back in form.
Corona is nowhere to go and we have to learn to live with it. Let's hope that with more and more vaccination, life returns back to normalcy soon.

Hopefully, but I doubt that my country could go back to normal like the rest of the world. The rollout of vaccines here is too slow. Now, the delta virus is here and this could increase the number of covid patients. Sigh.

I also agree that we have to learn to live with the pandemic. We can still so everything we did in the past but with extra precaution. Wear a mask, wash hands, keep social distance and get vaccinated, then do your work as you used to do.

Delta virus is a big concern in many countries and soon it will be everywhere. Japan to has the same concern and the fear looms over Olympics too.
