What programming language are you learning?

Postby jacktheking » 10 Nov 2014, 08:34

So, what programming language are you learning right now? Well, I have about 2 months of free time. And.. I have lot of time to spend. So I decided not to waste my time gaming or doing useless stuff. And I'm now learning C ++ at learncpp.com .

I have always wanted to learn C ++ but I find it too hard. Now, I have some basic knowledge in PHP, so learning C ++ is easier. I take a look at the infamous 'Hello World' structure in C ++ . And I found it easy to understand. Also, the variable syntax is almost the same as PHP! Well.. hopefully I will be able to pick up a new language soon.

I would suggest you looking at learncpp.com . I thought it was difficult but when I take a close look, it is much like PHP. Since you already know PHP, C ++ would be very easy! Give it a try! :)

I've a basic knowledge of html and CSS, however, I am currently working through the tutorials on CodeAcademy to help improve my coding skills, generally I spend about half an hour per day on those. I've also been spending a few minutes per day learning MySQL. Hopefully this time, albeit short, will give me a foundation that I can use to really improve my coding when I have more free time and really focus on learning.

Are you going through a book for that Raees, or are you learning some other way?

Thanks for the reply Raees, I hope it's going well for you. The tutorials at The New Boston, Code Academy and W3Schools are great, but you probably know that already.

@shamzblueworld I have the same issue re time. It might help to spend just a few minutes at it everyday, that way you can learn something new each day and get into the routine of learning. If you are progressing and enjoying it, you will find that you naturally begin to spend more time on it.
