Do you watch the Super Bowl?

Postby spiderdust » 07 Feb 2016, 22:57

The Super Bowl seems to be a huge deal in the United States every year, but it's an even bigger deal locally because 1) it's the 50th Super Bowl, and 2) it's being played here in town.

I don't usually watch it, although I have sometimes turned it on in the past to watch the half time show and the commercials (the commercials that air during the Super Bowl have a reputation for being epic, almost movie-like). We haven't had cable in the past 2 years, so if anyone in our house wants to watch it, they go to a pizza restaurant or someplace like that. There is guaranteed to be at least one TV on with the game playing.

SInce it's local this year, I wonder if those restaurants will be more crowded than in past years?

What is this super bowl kind of a game? We have a local cable for our TV. I don't know if this would be aired in our cable. What we usually see in our TV in a full coverage is the boxing bout of world reknown boxer, Manny Pacquiao.

The Super Bowl is the NFL's annual championship game. It's probably the most popular sports event in the United States, not counting the Olympics. A lot of people treat it like a holiday, complete with Super Bowl parties and events.

We don't have cable either, but watched it for free on CBS tonight with an antenna we bought at Home Depot.

Working on a New Side-Hustle

Since age is no longer creeping up on me, but rushing in like an NFL ball carrier on 4th down from the 1 yard line. it's very simple.

I know about the Super Bowl from TV shows and my learning in school. I did some studies on Super Bowl ads . They are indeed very cool. Studies even showed that a significant amount of people watch the game just for the ads and you are clearly one of the cases.

I'm not a sport fan but I love the spirit. So I join in once in awhile just for the atmosphere not the game itself haha. The biggest event in my country is World Cup and Sea Games. Totally a holiday for soccer maniac.

i watched the Superbowl and it was a disappointment as a fan. both defenses were good so there was a sludge to get through to score so it ended up being a turnover heavy game with a lot of mistakes. i am glad Peyton got another Superbowl to match his brother but I'm also sad cam didn't cap his great season with a victory.

I'm not a fan of sports and I've never really been interested in the Superbowl. Plus no one here cares about the Superbowl so I didn't watch it. I actually didn't know it was Superbowl time until I logged on the internet.

I watched some of it but I really don't understand it and it seems to be constantly stopping and starting again. A few seconds of action and then it stops for a minute it feels like. It doesn't seem to flow as good as most other sports.

It's weird that I'm well aware of the NFL but have never taken the time to find out what exactly it's all about. I have the general idea that it's the American National Football League, that it's a huge deal in the US, but that's about it. My husband is a huge football fan and he tells me American football is not quite like the EPL, which is what I sometimes watch with him. So no, I don't watch the Super Bowl.
