Re: Chat & What Did you do today? - How was your day?

It's cold today in Austin, Texas. So I'm working in my bedroom with a space heater turned on. Still researching about micro-investing. I think my problem is "cold feet". I just need to stop dragging my feet and get started! It only takes $5 to start. I don't know why I keep holding back! I need to throw caution to the wind. I'm gonna do it ... eventually.

I'm sitting here marveling at some peculiar events over my life. It just happened again. For whatever reason, I have often had something given to me before I even know what it is. Sometimes someone hands it to me because they no longer want it; sometimes I happen to stumble over something that looks interesting as I walk along and pick it up for some possible use in the future.
.
The really weird part is that something comes up minutes or days later when that is exactly what I need.

On the other hand, there have also been many times that I need something and begin looking for a place to buy it. Again, without any advance planning, either someone hands it to me because they no longer want it, or I stumble over it while I am looking for a place to go buy it from totally unbelievable sources. Didn't have to buy it after all but it just shows up when I need it.

It is often some little thing, like a hand tool, but this happens when I need a little extra cash, or some special furniture, or clothing, or … whatever. I've even had my rent show up the very day it was due when I was completely broke.

The reason I am thinking about all this is because I was at lunch with my landlord about 4 hours ago. We had some power equipment that needed repair that required a special socket. We discussed where to go buy what was needed and planned on doing so tomorrow. Well, I just now walked across the street to check the mail. Laying right on the side of the road, directly in front of my mailbox … was THAT socket. Must have fallen out of a passing truck, but WHY THERE? It happened again!

Ran an errand this morning. Needed to go to the bank and ask them why every time I try to use my debit card I keep getting an error message. The lady said my card was flagged for fraud when I tried to process a Coinbase transaction. I was setting up a new account. I was kind of annoyed. Anyway! I got the problem straightened out.

I've spent most of the day browsing various online clothing stores because I've not had much work.

I don't know why they're so many blackouts in my area. Again we had a whole day without electricity guess what do I do? I spent the day in bed. During the evening I made dinner, had a beer, and now I'm in bed.
It's past midnight. I wonder how the engineers want content creators to work without electricity.

Spring has sprung in my neighborhood and I am back out doing my yardwork. I regularly maintain the landscaping for 15 apartment complexes plus 3 commercial properties and have a few more that are only on call. There are 300 bushes in the whole lot that I keep trimmed along with everything else.

Just for fun, I decided to try my hand at topiary - giving one bush on each property some special shape beyond the normal trim. My first attempt came out pretty good. The bush is now easily recognized as a Scottish Terrier dog. The tenants love it. I can hardly wait to do more of them this year.

It's Saturday! I got up to do one thing, got distracted and did something else. Ah well! At least I am getting something productive accomplished.

I am frustrated...

I received an email stating that my Jordan's Skinny Syrups were delivered, but they are not here. I only have a little left.

A good thing? I got a new job yesterday! Woo Hoo!

For lunch, I had a burger, a serving of potato chips and a seltzer.

How are you?

I don't go by months any more. Making through one day is enough for me. When I consider what other people are going through in different parts of the world, I feel like, because I live in USA, my "prospects" are always "good" by comparison.

The situation here in Italy, unfortunately, is now decidedly "in black!". After two years of the coronavirus pandemic, an increase in the cost of energy (and therefore of the bills to pay) that Italy imports from abroad, because we are not a producing country, and as if that were not enough, now also a possible income at war in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, I would say that we are reduced .... worse than on our knees!

However, I admit that there are other countries in the world where people live much worse than in Italy, but this does not bring me any consolation, but only further regret ...

I wondered what country you were from. Yes. Italy has been going through a lot of hardship for years now. On our American news, especially the business reports they talk about the economic situations in other countries, Italy has been mentioned frequently.

I watched a movie one time and the man was asking the girl why she was so downhearted and discouraged. She tried to explain the various events that had been happening in her life. The man said “That doesn't seem like it's too bad.” She replied: “It's bad when it's all happening to YOU!”

When you're the one experiencing the trial and tribulation, especially for an extended period of time ~ no matter what the hardship is OR how it compares to the hardship of others ~ you can't help but keep asking: WHEN IS RELIEF GOING TO COME? When each day passes, even though you're still alive, you say to yourself: 'Relief didn't come today. Maybe ... just maybe ... the sun will come out tomorrow.'
