Re: What’s one act of kindness you experienced today?

Postby Spontaneo » 03 May 2024, 01:04

My roommate went grocery shopping and bought me some good pantry staples. She is always at work, so I only have meals alone. I have been consuming a bunch of potatoes... from air fryer potato wedges to air fryer French fries. I do not want to prepare huge meals.

I love lunch meat! She bought me some pepperoni!

I have been craving chili but did not want to ask for black beans. She bought a small bag. I need to bulk the chili up to fill a Crock-Pot. ground beef? rice?

Then, she drove 2 separate trips to pick up packages for myself.

Her kindness always makes up for her temper. ;)

I went to the dentist early this morning to have yet another tooth pulled. My dentist said, "You did good". Made me feel good.

My librarians, for a donation, gave me 12 months' worth of outdated 4 magazines!

I recently bought 2 refurbished but new to myself ThinkPads that are not working! Instead of going through the trouble of returning, my landlord has a friend that is going to fix. He got the ThinkPads today. Pray he has the ThihkPads fixed by this weekend.

I was at Dollar Tree today. When I went to stand in line, 2 ladies both allowed me to go in front.

Next, my roommate is never here to share a meal with myself. She is always at work. Today, I prepared Crock-Pot baked potatoes. Guess what? She ate!

Finally, there were a few baked potatoes left so I prepared a plate for our neighbor. She loved the meal!

On this past Sunday, I prepared pasta with meat sauce. I made a plate for my neighbor. She loved it!

Then, I made a plate for my roommate's loved one, she loved it!

A friend gave my roommate and myself a huge box of individual-size bags of potato chips. Instead of keeping, I gave them to my church this past Saturday.

Today, I had bags of library cookbooks needing to be returned. My roommate was going to drive that way anyway, so she offered to drop the cookbooks off for myself.

Within the past 2 days, I have been really blessed!

Yesterday, the Salvation Army donated groceries!

Yesterday, my neighbor gave me a cup of her personally prepared Chex Mix party mix! She knows that I love her mix as a treat.

Today, my neighbor brought 2 big boxes of day-old bread! A monthly event!

Then, today, a church dropped off 3 bags of groceries! I was asked if I would like groceries once a month!

My roommate and I have enough food to last a couple of weeks, with the exception of maybe milk and butter!

I can do pantry challenges!

I am grateful.

My roommate knows how I love to have flashlights. She bought me a new flashlight that does not take batteries!

My roommate gets mad if I do have a grocery list. Then, she gets mad when I do not have a grocery list.

She took me to the bank today only to find the bank closed for a holiday.

I then thought that we were going to head home. But, she turned toward the other way as if to go shopping.

Her first words to me? "Got your list"?

My knees were weak, the temperature was hot and I was hungry with barely any money on my debit card.

We pulled into Dollar General.

She does the driving. She carries our grocery money. I do the shopping for food that she approves of.

As I have been doing pantry challlenges, I have been craving real food. She is always at work and she never has meals here at home. I feel that I deserve some food from our grocery money.

So, I spent $8.00.

box of spaghetti

spaghetti sauce

big package of ramen beef noodles

1/2 gallon of milk

We were then going to head toward Dollar Tree but I asked her if we could go on another day.

I was tired. My knnes were weak. I was hungry.

She then asked me, "Would you like to go out and get something to eat? We can shop on another day."

On other days, she would more than likely be upset. But, she finally understood.

We went to McDonalds thru and to myself had a gourmet meal!

Today, our neighbor brought her monthly day-old baked goods. All kinds, from various English muffins and bagels to various donuts. Many others also!

We are blessed!

A local church blessed my roommate and I today with groceries!

Groceries included items we could not really buy, such as frozen boneless skinless chicken breast and salad shrimp!

We are totally blessed!

My roommate has a box of "go gurts" in the freezer that are a little expired. She is a little paranoid about expired food. She knows I do not mind. So, she gave me the whole box!

I needed to run some errands today.

I don't have a vehicle.

So, I gave my roommate $5.00 to drive.

She drove.

My roommate took a friend out today. Her friend bought her this sandwich at a gas sandwich. My roommate did not want to her feelings, but she did not want the sandwich. So, she lied and said that she'd take home for later.

When my roommate got home, she gave the sandwich to myself.

Her friend showed kindness. The roommate paid it forward.

Yet again, a local church's food pantry arrived with some groceries!

They bring items we could not afford!

For example?

A huge bag of frozen boneless skinless chicken breasts.
A huge bag of frozen taco meat filling.
A huge roll of frozen ground beef.

I am so mad at myself. I did not think that I had anything to give to my church today. So, I did not ask my roommate to drive there.

About when Mass should have been over, I realized that I did have some items to donate!

Now I have to wait until next weekend.

So, I guess paying it forward to a good cause is going to be a little late!

I saw kindness happen today.

My roommate and I were parked in a parking lot. A lady was walking to her car on the side of my roommate's car and she fell. It took 4 women to pick her up. She thanked the women over and over.
