Well, at the moment, it is bright sunshine and about 50 degrees (F). The wind right now makes it feel colder. I've lived here for 9 years now, and have seen the white stuff almost as many times in all those years. Even when it does fall, it is usually melted off and gone within a day or two; don't have to shovel if you can wait. It is rare for the temp to drop below freezing at night, and even more rare for it to stay there during the day. I know I have a winter coat packed away someplace, but I have never needed it since moving here. (I used to wear it quite often shoveling snow in 5 degree blizzards.) I don't need an air conditioner in the summer.
Over the years, I have lived in more than a half dozen states, and I have family in a half dozen others. Since I moved here, I have frequently brought up weather report sites for all those locations at the same time to compare. Without exception, it is always nicer here than any of the others. The western mountain edge of the state is much nicer than the low flat lands on the eastern side. When you see weather alerts that mention this state, it is always over there ... hundreds of miles east of where I live.
I don't miss the snow. I don't miss the cold. I don't miss the tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, sinkholes, earthquakes, high humidity, extreme heat, nearby volcanoes or other natural imperfections that rage in other locations. Heck, I don't even miss the high crime or even the political mobs that ravage big cities.
All is well with this little piece of heaven on the globe. I just hope others don't discover it and crowd the place.
