I find it difficult to understand why we humans attached so much importance to trivialities. Hijab or no hijab doesn't make any sense to me. Religion is one of the worst thing that have happened to mankind

Worst of all, some nations forbid girls from attending universities because of their religious heritage, or if what is happening in these nations has nothing to do with deliberate choice.

Did Iran block some social media where people post about these riots? What about newspapers and journalist? Did they got some ban or punish?

We expected that this protest will go down the history and bring out some revolution. Well, it would definitely go down the history but the revolution that was expected is not happening yet. Despite all the protest and anger, the fanatic government is not letting it happen. Many have been executed among the protestors. Young lives have been sacrificed but yet the government is not giving any freedom. It's on the other hand is becoming more conservative and tightening the noose.
It's unfortunate that this is happening in this civilized era where one can not dress according to their choice.

Widespread protests were provoked by Iranian police detention. Amini, 22, passed away on Friday, a few days after being detained for wearing a headscarf in Tehran by the nation's "morality police."

A replica of this sad events have once happened in my country where a lady got beaten to death by some Islam freaks. TBH, i hate the fact that the religious leaders are always trying to justify the unjust.

Your post is dated Sept 2022. I remember when our news reports were "buzzing" about this. I have not heard anything recently. I did hear several weeks back that they were thinking about getting rid of the "morality police". But I didn't believe that report. Cause how I interpret it is ... if they say they're "thinking" about it, that means they are not going to do it and nothing has changed.

theocracy exists in many forms. During the dark ages, 538 -1800 a.d, the catholic church had a similar regime, before them Israel. Jordan, and almost all of the Muslim world. I hope it comes to an end soon.

"End soon"? As long as any religion is used for power and control, these events won't be ending any time soon. You already pointed to historical references from hundreds of years ago.

Reminds me of last night's QUANTUM LEAP, where a high-school basketball-player--suffering scorn for her/his transsexuality--was redeemed by the sisterhood of her team.

The word Sisterhood (State of being- or having a Sister, Sisterly Relationship, Society of Sisters) is built of the word Sister & the suffix -hood. The word Sister is built on ancient words that mean "Daughter, Cousin (see Adelphi)."

I have tried to find updates. This article is dated Feb 6, 2023.

Drill Rapper AK Arshi Takes on Iranian Revolution through Music and Political Activism - EIN Presswire
https://www.einnews.com/pr_news/6154897 ... l-activism

This guy says “It is time for a new generation of artists to step up and take on leadership positions for new revolutionary movements, and I am here to lead the way.”
* * *

Young people. You gotta love them! <3
I used to be young once. I grew up in the USA and I come from a generation of artists who wrote great protest songs. Look where the USA is today.

All I can say to that guy ... (sigh) ... Give it a try! You might succeed!

You know that now there are 'Gen Z'-ers in Congress? (The generation doesn't even have its own name!)

LOL. I think Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said the first week she showed up to work, everybody kept thinking she was a secretary. We have to get some new blood in Congress. Everybody there is so old. There's nothing wrong with being old. But I remember my mom saying that she learned new things from her kids. So we need people in Congress who have "history" serving. But we could use an infusion of new ideas and modern thinking, so young folks should be brought to the table as well.

(By the way, I lost track of the generations. Every time somebody mentions a letter x, y or z, I have to Google it to see who are they talking about. And I've looked it up several times. But I keep forgetting. )

The generations shift from time to time ... until about 2015, 'X-ennial' didn't exist---so I went from being a 'young Gen X-er' to an 'Elder Millennial' (but don't tell comedian Iliza Schesinger---who 'owns' that title  )

Up until a few years ago, I always thought 'generation' meant 'the brothers & sisters & cousins (& their spouses) on the same line of a family tree'; even though I've been a fan of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION for DECADES (and they use the definition that--I guess--most people use, "all the people born- and living at about the same time, regarded collectively").

The definition I use probably springs from The Bible's long lists ('A begat B begat C etc.'), with "Beget (give Birth)" being the meaning of its historical foundation. - xGeneration xGenerationX xGenX xGenerationY "First Generation" "Second Generation" xGenerational xIntergenerational xGenerate xGenerator xGenerable

They should do a sequel to Footloose (an 80s movie about how they tried to outlaw dancing in a small American town)

I saw the horrifying news reports. So "official murder" is just an everyday thing in this country?
