OldGuy?

Postby Spontaneo » 28 Sep 2025, 01:41

Hello FC members

I just want to give a shout-out to OldGuy in hopes that he reads this subject.

Do any of you FC members miss him?

I sure do.

He quite often put myself in my place, then would turn around and make myself laugh.

C'mon OldGuy, can't you return?

OldGuy recently stated that he is no longer active on FC.
Hoping he returns to drill sense into some of us :)

WN is a website that specializes in articles about events, places and even book reviews. Personally, I like to write articles with lists.

And these are the things that I remember that annoys him. Members who keep using AI without, you know, making an effort to make it sound human and less obvious to be AI, as in they're obviously using AI, shamelessly. He also doesn't like members who have repetitive posts, who will make multiple trends for the same topic, or members who will game the system by saying the same reply, just rewarded in different style, on the same thread over and over again. And if he's scolded, you guys, it's actually for your good. Although there is a time that we disagreed about something, but... Yeah, a lot of members here are going to receive a call on Christmas because they are gaming the system.

I get what you mean. There are replies I have also noticed as if the responses are automated. May be AI is as well helping us find answers easily   . For sure, its understandable why he may be got frustrated and choose to go silent. He is a guy who likes things go the right direction but once that fails, it is one way to ave him silent. The absence of new topics, lowered rate of replies to threads and many other factors could have led to his silence. I remember one time he told me how he used to spend much of his time on FC trying to dig posts etc. Remember he also introduced the rewarding system where members would be rewarded FC for posting the highest number of new monthly topics. May be right now he is kind of doing other stuff. . At least his feedback helped keep the community more genuine and interesting. I also miss him surely.

I cannot blame him because the quality of replies and threads had dropped down because so many people here are so dependent on AI that they started to felt like they have the same personality. You know, AI can sound natural and sound like slop, but so many people here don't even make effort when they use AI. They keep trying so hard to use AI without effort and make us believe that they sound like professors. I told some people to make their AI replies sound casual at least, so they will sound human, but they don't listen to me neither. They keep doing the same trash over and over again.

I'm weirded out that someone would use AI to post on a forum. That's so lazy! And it hurts the forum by reducing the quality of posts.

All of you have taught myself a lesson as I did not even know what AI was until I just asked a friend at the cafe.

Uumm ... I think OldGuy had a really good eye. I visit here regularly, and if a member is using AI, I can't spot it.

But then, I'm the idiot who actually had a conversation with Grok AI on X. Usually, I'm telling Grok that its PROGRAMMED responses are CLEARLY BIASED and ONE-SIDED.

I laughed at myself. I don't believe I took time to argue with a computer program.
