I want to have a collection of clay and glass cookware

Postby Netherrealmer » 10 May 2018, 07:48

I do not want to cook on metal cookwares anymore because they are cancerous specially the aluminum ones. I want to cook on less toxic materials like glass and clay.

I wanted to have an Electric Clay pot- This is a mixture of modern and ancient technology. Look most cookwares these days are made of stainless steel and Aluminum. These materials are cancerous. So it is better to cook in porcelain , glass and clay cookware.

I love rice cookers and slow cookers but they are made of metal. This is an electric appliance where the cooking vessel is made of clay!

I also wanted to have a complete clay cookware set. I know they will break if I drop them on the floor but I am not clumsy.

I want to have a collection of different claypots from different cultures.

I also wanted to have pyrex cookwares. Glass looks beautiful.

Once I have my clay and glass cookwares, I will give away from metal pots and pans to my neighbors.

I will also get rid of my metal bakewares and replace them with silicone and pyrex.

It is not only the health reason why I love Clay and glass cookwares. Foods cook there are more delicious because there is no toxic metallic taste. You will really experience a difference when food is not cooked in metal.

Some of them also have cute designs.

As long as you are not clumsy, they will actually last forever.

Re: Use Clay and glass Cookware to prevent cancer!

Postby Allius » 12 May 2018, 11:24

Interesting topic!
Do you know why we (as humanity) never found a cancer cure (yet)?
Because exists various different types of cancer (we tend to talk about cancer like one desease, but we should talk in plural), with different causes and consequences too...
So, prevent cancer is not that simple... because we are not aware what are causing them (or some of them). And also we can't control all the variables... for example poluition.

However your topic are interesting because, why not cook in less toxic materials? This should prevent something, no? ;)

They won't cure cancer but only decrease our chances for cancer because Aluminum is proven to be cancerous. It is the reason why Brad Pitt prefers to be stinky than use commercial deodorants because commercial deodorants are rich in aluminum.

Also foods cooked in ceramic, clay and glass actually tasted better. Aluminum and other metals affects the taste of food.

Yes, I understood that they not cure cancer, only prevent. :)
I talked about cure only to make an introduction. I was trying to say that's not easy to know what causes the cancer (there are so many causes) and the cure is also difficult because there are so many types of cancer.
As I sad, if we can try something that could prevent cancer, why not try it? That's why I liked your topic :)

Well I think if we worried about every little thing that the media put out there we would never use anything. I am in my 60s now, I've survived many end of the world predictions, numerous supposedly toxic products (I've heard the deodorant one too) and I'm still in very good health. I would be more concerned about the air being polluted by toxins because there is absolutely nothing we can do about that as we have to breathe!

I mostly use Steel vessels for cooking. But yes, I do have a cooker that is of aluminium but I rarely use it. Seems we are going back to clay, from where the human civilization began making the first vessels.

In earlier days in our culture, earthern clay pots were widely used. My grandmother cooked in those clay pots. And the curries got a special taste. Now I have one in my kitchen and it's too small to use for cooking. I use it for setting curd. And the curds made in earthern pots taste far better than those that I get in steel vessels. There is clear noticeable difference.

People might be drawn to buying aluminum products because of the lower cost and disregard for their health.

We are getting back to our ancient roots. I remember my grandmother cooking in those clay cookwares. Now, they have become a thing that is considered elegant and fancy. In old days, clay cookwares were common in all households in India. I have taken out all non stick and aluminium cookware a long time back.. I have replaced them with cast iron and steel. Electric clay rice cooker sounds interesting. I would like to have one.

The creative and attractive designs made on those clay cookware is enough to change ones perspective about the modernized clay works. I also wish to have a set but my clumsy person is dominant.

I just paid a visit to Vitaclay's website and it's amazing the array of cookware that they offer. Once again, first class article. I have a question, do you really use these products or is it just for the article?

Stainless steel and cast iron cookware is perfectly safe. I do like some earthenware stuff though.

... Clay ... the word Clay is built on ancient words that mean "Slime, Glue, Beeswax, Sticky Matter, Mucus, to Cleave, Adhere; Plaster."

It was also used to translate from the Hebrew (either aphar or adamah) that people are made of---which also translates "Dry Earth, Dust, Ground, Land."

Do you put pyrex on the stove? I didn't know you could do that. Gas or electric?

I have pyrex too and I also use them for baking. Unlike metal pans, their butts dont turn black.

One of the kitchen appliances I changed was the non-stick-coated frying pans. I bought new ones with a porcelain/ceramic coating.

I also use pyrex on the stove and it can be used with gas or electric. It is a very healthy way to cook.
