The wordroot that brings the month-name "February" means "Purifications, Expiatory Rites & -Offerings" (though some trace its roots to words that mean "the Smoking, Burning or Fumes" of those Offerings).

I'm sorry if I made it sound like I was talking about 'the moment I was posting that (March 23, 2023; 12:40)'; I was sharing Heart of the Nation's prayer for February (which I suppose "carries over" through the rest of the months & years, kind of like our recital of The Lord's Prayer (The "Our Father") is led by Lord Jesus Christ teaching His gathered audience how to pray.)

The wordroot that gives us "Pray" is probably one that means "to Ask, Request, Entreat"; the original Scripture uses a word with roots that mean "to Wish" or those that mean "to Beseech," or that mean "to Intervene, Interpose" (and I'm sure there are other words in The Bible that are translated to "Prayer").

That's a root it shares with "Prayerful, Prithee, Prayerfully, Prayerfulness, and ... NOT Praise! (well, not exactly ... I'll explain---later )."

We also have prayer to intercede on behalf of loved ones which may be believer or unbeliever. Thy Lord taught us the Lord's prayer in the book of Matthew chapter 6.
