Be Careful Not to Worship Money

Postby friendociate » 27 Feb 2023, 17:17

Grace for Purpose shares this video about 'how to tell whether people are sent by The Devil,'

Grace for Purpose tells us that one of The Devil's tactics is 'to hurt you financially.' When members here tell me about how they're making money 'hand over fist' by joining various other platforms, I'm reminded of 'Jesus being tempted in the desert' (when Satan showed Him all the kingdoms He could own if He'd only kneel and worship Satan).

I don't think that any of you are Satan, or that any of you are knowingly working for Satan (although a) Jesus was responding to Simon Peter when He said, "Get thee behind me, Satan!" and b) Judas Iscariot was one of Jesus' most-trusted disciples--the one He put in authority over the ministry's money--when "Satan entered into Judas").

These Scriptures describe how 'the love of money' is the root of many-many evils. I'm sure you don't intend any evil, but its influence can blind you to the negative consequences of your earning-actions

I think one of examples in real life if when somebody won on lottery. Most often people lose friends, left jobs, buy unnecessary stuff and at end they bankrupt. All those events are caused by money.

Whoa, I loved this video! I really enjoyed her voice and her words. Thanks for sharing! :)

Some wear the lamb clothes very well and can be hard to spot, but as a general rule I ask myself if the "pitch" I'm listening to is purposely aimed towards my ego or speaks the language of deadly sins.
Greed is the first that comes to mind but it can also be pride, sloth, envy and even lust.
Unfortunately becoming richer often means someone else will get poorer. We have to be mindful and not let money rule over us, be reminded it's just a tool and not our whole personality.

God has the final say... Right on cue. Really hard to follow or copy the faith of job. I think if that happens to us now we will go insane.

Not really, at least not like 'some guy deciding whether or not to push The Button.'

The final decision is held by humans---which is why it was thousands of years before somebody 'died as a sacrifice for our sins' (and why--an argument-against-the-existence-of-God that atheists use--'bad things happen to good people' even though 'God is all-powerful'). God HAD the final say, and he set it down for humans to take and use---Delegated Power.

"Power" (with "Powers, Powered, Powering, Powerful, Powerfully, Powerless, Overpower")
comes from a wordroot that also served as root for words that mean "Lord, to be Able, Army, Military Force, Authorization, Right to Command or Control, Dominion, Mastery, Efficacy."

In a critical world and system like this, people go a long way in making money, some which are legit and others are not, but the truth is that money must be made because that's what guarantees good life and protection these days, so going after money does not mean that a person is worshipping it

I disagree. Brother Jesus--'channeling' Our Father's command, I'm sure--said "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness." Money is not a goal; money carries the power The Kingdom (all its people) use to accomplish its goal.

'We are given money' the same way 'the body's organs are given blood'---it flows in as the organ needs it, and flows away to make room for more. Each organ has a function in promoting The Kingdom (supplying it with energy, protecting it from viruses, etc.) If you forget 'your purpose in The Kingdom' on account of 'your "need" for money,' you worship money more than you worship 'the righteous one'.

That's what she wants you to think.

Just like Satan---he's not "the enemy of Our Father (who art in Heaven)," he wants you to think he is Our Father ... he's why we think Our Father's name is "God" (rather than "EL" or "Elohim" or related names).

The video is clear, not everyone who is in our lives wants our best, the Devil uses those people to make us question God and blame him for everything that happens to us. It is an easy path, as it takes away responsibility for our actions. But we most be aware that we are the only ones who decides what to do with our lives and which path are we willing to follow.

The love of money is the root of all evil.
That is the most misquoted scripture in the Bible.

The Bible says "The love of money is the root of all evil".
The love of money. Not the money itself!

Anyway! The bottom line is: Whatever or whoever you serve, that your master. If you serve money then money rules you!

Amen!

other versions of it say "The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil." The English text of 'the interlinear' (where the one verse is written word-by-word in-the original Greek, -the 'transliteration' (putting the Greek in English letters), -the type of word it is, -the location in the STRONG'S Concordance, and -the closest English translation) says,

"A root for of all kinds - of evils is the 'love of money' (all one word), which some stretching after have been seduced away from the faith, and themselves have pierced.'

I think in this topic we add opposite side to. How to live without be addicted to money. My suggestion is documentary show New Lives in the Wild by Ben Fogle (English broadcaster, writer and adventurer) in which he talk with people who left big citys and went live in wildernes. They live very simple and they not addicted to money. They have some but much less than regular people and much less are addicted to it.

It's good to see that people can do without money.

I look at it the same way I look at TV or The Internet or other things I frequently enjoy---I use them so much, it seems like I NEED them; but I only 'NEED them' as long as I HAVE them (and--if I lose them--I am not personally diminished)'

Painful truth is that many are already worshipping money even without them knowing. This is why these days you would see a lot of persons who can and would do anything but illegal things simply cause they need money. Money itself is not evil, it is the love it that makes people do all sort of things.

I once met a monk from Sri Lanka who did not have any money. He told me that he was forbidden to use money for any purpose, and he did only eat once a day. All he had was his robe, a tent to sleep in the woods and a small bowl which he used to beg for food every morning.

It seems that most of us from the west have long forgotten how to live a modest life, our purposes are always material. This monk showed many people how superficial western culture has become. How we waste our entire lives chasing things that are not necessary and do not develop our souls, or existential purpose.

That's very interesting @Danny B., do you know if the fact that he had to "beg for food" in order to eat every day, bothered him in any way? Many of us may focus too much on money, but I don't believe we would want to get to the point where we have to beg for food.

Even when the religious leaders worship money? Who am I not to follow in their noble ways? They offer the best prayers to generous rich people.

Yup, we still have basic needs to fulfil but these days even those needs are expected to be fulfilled with huge amount of comfort or luxury.
"I can't afford food" sometimes means "I can't afford to have a restaurant quality meal delivered to my door", and so forth.
At times the cost of living is truly high, but there's still much we can do to spend less money... if we really wanted to.

Indeed. Besides, you can exchange your labor for food if you can't touch money, without having to resort to begging.

In where I live, money is something that truly makes the world go round. We literally have to worship it else we would be lost. I worship money.
