Postby shamzblueworld » 14 Aug 2015, 03:28

I just found these articles on the topic of concept of God in major religions of the world, I've posted them here Concept of God in Major religions of the world
There are six articles on the six major religions of the world Zoroastrianism, Sikhism, Hinduism, Judism, Christianity and Islam
Are you a believer of any of these religions? What are your believes? Do read the articles and share what are your views.
And I've got a question that I would like to get an answer to from you all
Does your concept of God matches the concept of God in your religion?

In Hinduism we believe everything is a manifestation of God. HE is everywhere, All powerful.
There is one GOD. HE is the Supreme Reality and is worshipped in both male and female form.

That's interesting. So from that list, the only one that isn't Monotheist is Hinduism, right? I must confess I have never heard about Zoroastrianism and Sikhism which is surprising since (taking what you said is true) they are among the six major religions in the world.
There are so many religions. Curiously enough I don't believe that there is a "god almighty". In any god to be honest. It's all so theoretical. I can only talk about Christianism which I was taught when I was younger. The bible has so many discrepancies, inconsistencies. I stopped believing a long time ago.
But I gotta tell you, for many people, the fact that they have something to believe in, is a great psychological support.

Looking forward to read other opinions.

yes buddhism is major. i def agree. Koreans have practiced buddhism for many years, now there are a lot of Christians there. Some of my family in korea still practice buddhism. I myself prefer not to give myself a name. I believe in God and I leave it at that

A true Hindu believes there is a super power which activates us all and we term that super power as god. We believe all forms of Nature are gods, The Sun, Moon,Earth,Wind, water and the sky. We thank them all on different occasions for what ever they are giving us. To make a lay man believe in the super power, we have created different forms of gods whom we worship & pray. But we believe in the concept of One God who is above all and who activates everything around us.

What you said captures the essence of Hinduism very well. It is like saying that there is a supreme power that animates everything and that power is what we call God. In the Hindu perspective, every aspect of Nature is seen as a god: the sun, the moon, the earth, the wind, the water and the sky. It is a way of being grateful for the gifts they give us every day.

For ordinary people, the different forms of gods help to understand and grasp the concept of a supreme power. But within the whole concept there is still the belief in One God who is above all and who makes everything alive and continue. It is like a lamp in the desert that lights the way in the darkness and as the Chinese say a single drop of water can bore a stone so even a small gratitude for the elements of Nature can strengthen the spiritual connection and show that a supreme power is everywhere.

So Hinduism carries a balance of being grateful for everything that is seen and also recognizing that there is one supreme power that governs it all.
