Sodium or No Sodium

Postby Spontaneo » 15 Aug 2025, 06:47

In the past, myfitnesspal.com stated that I was consuming way too much sodium.

In the past, my family physician said the opposite.

About a few months ago, I had a couple of spells where I felt like I was going to pass out. I blamed these spells on not having packed a lunch and only bottled water. An acquaintance gave myself a diet Coke after a spell and I felt kind-of better.

These spells for some odd reason happen when I go to an appointment. Thank goodness they have a cooler filled with diet Coke and I now pack my own.

2 days ago, I saw my family physician. He told myself to use true lemon crystalized lemon crystals packets in unlimited quantity.

I hopefully can win. Sodium or No Sodium.

I learned in school that MSG is really bad. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the reason.

Its not bad, its a natural component you found in Mushroom and tomato. They demonized MSG back then because some racist businessmen wants to demonize Chinese restaurants as they are beating their diners.

In 1940s dogs end up with cancer because American scientist injected them MSG but injecting is different than consuming. They use that awful experiment as excuse to demonize msg. MSG is not bad

Too much salts can be harmful to the body, and then again those diet cokes aren't really healthy as well.

The fact that the spells happen when you go to an appointment might suggest a few things, but only your doctor can give you a proper diagnosis. It could be related to:

Anxiety or Stress: The stress of having an appointment could be a trigger for your body's stress response, which can cause lightheadedness.

Dehydration or Blood Sugar: As you initially suspected, not eating or drinking enough can definitely lead to feeling faint. Even with bottled water, your body might have been missing key electrolytes.

Too much sodium isn’t great long-term, but too little can also make you feel weak or lightheaded. Packing food and not relying only on water helps a lot. Maybe track how you feel on days you eat more vs less salt and see what your body tells you.

Yes. I know the importance of electrolytes as I usually pack electrolytes water ennhancer packets with my bottled water. When at home, I even know how to prepare my own homemade. A pinch of salt, lemon juice. sweetener and water. That is really all one needs!

Sad that this is what most fast foods and junk foods contain.
