Have You Ever "Weaned" Yourself Off Of Something?

Postby Spontaneo » 02 Aug 2025, 16:50

Have you ever been "addicted" to something? Have you ever been able to "wean" yourself off?

My story?

Years ago, I was addicted to diet Pepsi. I quit cold turkey and lost 20 pounds.

Years ago, I smoked a carton of cigarettes/cigars a week. Now I vape.

Then, years ago, I loved fried potato wedges in hot grease. I had the wedges around 9:30pm - 10:00pm every night. Then, I would buy a large serving at KFC once a week. KFC stopped selling wedges. Next, my roommate and I bought an air fryer so no more hot grease. I only have wedges maybe 3 to 4 days/nights a week.

Finally, I see my family physician once a month. I get weighed on every appointment. Last month, I had gained 7 pounds within a month. He told myself to cut down on my sweet tea. I love sweet tea as makes myself happy. But I have listened to my family physician as have not had a sweet tea since that last visit. Only unsweetened. I see him in a couple of weeks again. I want him to be impressed!

How about you? Do you have any stories to tell? I would love to know!

There have been times in my life when I have been fond of something and taken too much of it. For example when I was younger there were times when I was drinking more than was good for me. Thankfully, I don't think I have ever been addicted to something and certainly I was lucky enough not to have a problem that I could not control.

I was never addicted to an illegal substance.

I lost 6 pounds! After being weighed, I was so excited! Maybe by next month's visit here, I could lose another 6 pounds? ;) ;)
