Personally, anything Italian reminds myself of home. For example, my mother's crank pasta machine which she would make various pasta with. Leftover mashed potatoes in the fridge? She would prepare gnocchi.

If only I knew the way to homemade. I do know how to prepare Crock-Pot lasagna, though.

I have searched over and over for a sauce like my mother's homemade sauce and found a Sicilian sauce called Mid's that is almost the same.

Kipooli, that is the local name. Maama used to make this. Also I miss the cooked smashed fresh maize. Maama made it for us and the grand.

I remember when riding the school bus when in elementary school, kids would get on the bus smelling like eggs, bacon and toast! My mother fed myself Cream of Wheat with a scoop of ice cream on top. I did not smell! LOL

No, it's just cooked apple, a little bit of sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon in a bowl. Kind of like applesauce.

My dad was from The Bahamas, and my mom cooked Southern/soul food.

Now that I live in Texas, it's chili and tamales.
