Powerful anti-terror speech by Head of one of India's delegations - Shashi Tharoor in US

Postby ptrikha21 » 29 May 2025, 14:35

India has send 7 delegations made up of former ambassadors, Foreign Service officials and primarily politicians from across
the ruling and opposition parties in one of its kind initiative to make India's responses in "Operation Sindoor"
and anti terror stand and policies clear to the world.
A main reason why this has been done is because of the bias of many in Western and other media to anti Indian narratives.
In this regard, I listened to this powerful and effective anti terror speech by a former UN official and one of the leaders
of Indian National Congress - Dr. Shashi Tharoor.
Interestingly, even being in opposition, having a terrific English with sometimes phases as base for memes and fun has a
big following especially among Middle Class and Intellectuals.

I'm not sure there's a bias.
Speaking for myself, it's not a bias, it's ignorance.
I don't know anything about India's anti-terror efforts.

But no matter what country you're in, if you've got terrorists, somebody better be ANTI!

I've heard it said that terrorists are what big armies call small armies. Also, that one person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter. I suspect lots of groups at war label the other side as being terrorists. Obviously I'm not suggesting that there is no such thing as terrorists, but it is worth considering the actions and motivations of those doing the labelling.

I'm not sure there's a bias.......

If US or other countries have the right to bombard cities and areas on the basis of a couple of Terror incidents - blasts, 9/11 etc, then the Media should not preach restraint to a country or make an equivalence between a terror supporter and a victim.
India has been a victim since decades, and has the right to respond, whatever the Western Media thinks.
But yes, India has send many delegations across the world to make a diplomatic case in its favor, which is quite fair.

Freedom Fighters would tend to fight a system, an Army, Police or Establishment.
Once an individual or a group starts killing people and that too those who are unconcerned about anything and going about their day to day life (a case being NY City - 9/11 or Mumbai - 26/11 [2008]),
then it is pure pure terror and should not harbor any support.

And what would you call a country which gives a kind of state funeral to such terror operatives by draping its flag over them and where Army and Police attend the funeral?

Well, I suppose the answer is clear !

Speaking of “labels”.

When Ukraine said the tanks lined up along their border was a clear indication that Russia was preparing to start a war, Putin called it a “military exercise”.

Recently (in self-defense):
~ Ukraine fired back, and Putin tried to paint it as an “assassination attempt” on him.
~ In yet another defense move, Ukraine managed to destroy some of Russia's fighter planes. Putin called it a “terrorist attack”.

I think Putin and Trump use the same “dictionary”.

If India were to follow the past US Models or current Russian model, its war would still have been on.
Russia should have stopped the war a long time back.
They have already set back Ukraine's development by a number of years.

Yes. Because WE ALL KNOW Russia should have never STARTED IT!!

Are you reading the new reports?
Putin's trying to play the victim and act like he's the nice guy.

Either he has had a break with REALITY or he's just accustomed to LYING.

~ A pathological liar is someone who lies compulsively and habitually, often without a clear reason or benefit. Pathological liars may fabricate elaborate stories that make them appear heroic or victimized.

The problem with a lot of political leaders with immense power these days is High ego and a penchant for fame.
And this problem seems common across the globe.
Unless Putin climbs down from his High Placed ego, the war does not seem likely to end.

Unless? That's not going to happen.
Honestly? The war might end if Putin dies.
But that's the strange thing about evil people. It seems like they live forever!

Even though Russia has been supporting India in many ways, I do not think many in India support this war.
Difficult part is for Putin to scale down or back off.
I think since they have already conquered many areas and done massive damage to Ukraine, they should stop now.

It's “difficult” because Putin didn't expect the Ukrainians to PUT UP A FIGHT!

He underestimated and miscalculated.

These people have had a taste of freedom and sovereignty.
They like governing themselves.
They're not giving that up easily.

Now Putin is fighting (“struggling”) harder because … his ego and pride have been battered and bruised.

He can't believe that he might actually LOSE!

I'm American. But I stand with the Ukrainians all the way!
