Are you a good judge of character?

Postby sprite1950 » 20 Aug 2015, 10:02

I am not. People I have initially liked turn out to be not who I thought and some that I have disliked on a first meeting have turned out to be good friends. Can you trust your gut instinct?

Definitely yes!
I'm good at it (although I also make mistakes, of course). I love to analyze people and their behavior.
Did you know that we can intuit about the characteristics of people just seeing a picture of them? There are several interesting studies about it!
Are our first impressions ... they are very strong because we tend more to confirm what we think we know, than to refute our ideas.
That is why we must be very careful with our first impressions ...
If face to face it's hard to judge the character of someone, just imagine, for example, here, where we just write our opinions ... ;)

I am generally quite good at clocking rogues and charlatans on sight but I can sometimes be proved wrong. It's usually more about mannerism than appearances. Someone trying hard to tell you how good he is usually isn't. Basically if someone keeps saying 'trust me because everyone calls me Honest John' ) , not only isn't he honest. The chances are his name isn't even John.

I usually deceived many people and I see the best always are disappointed, it remains so now, virtually no way to change this.

Yes I think I get a good idea of people right away. But even with that I still don't easily give out my trust for a long time after meeting and getting to know someone.

I am not such a good judge so to say. I have judged people wrongly before and now i just take time to get to know a person before i judge them lest i make the wrong conclusion

I thought I was, so I would say it is about a 50 50 chance for me, honestly , I been wrong about a few I really trusted and got burned. Lesson learned, I am super cautious about just about everyone right now. You need to be really careful , about who you allow in your life. I say this all the time, but so true.

I consider myself a pretty decent judge of character. I can usually tell if someone isn't a good friend to have.
