Marriage is not for romance alone. If it is only for that, after the initial interest fades out, your marriage becomes stale. It is the love and affection you develop for your partner and his/her family that keeps the marriage going. As days go on, the romance develops into affection for each other and it is only then a marriage gets complete.

I do not think so, basically I was married to be with the loved one all the time and not only for romance, for better or worse, just me and with family of course.

I think romance can be an added bonus of a marriage but necessarily the only thing. I wanted to be with my hubby always and to have a partner in crime that would have my back and to laugh together as often as possible.

Well part of being in marriage is not just romance but everything in it: love for both; husband and wife, family, job, etc.

For some marriage gives them security. It says 'I want to be with you forever' .. admittedly it doesn't always work out that way but when two people marry that is what they believe. Of course it is romantic too, especially at first, but when the romance wears off, which it inevitably will, there has to be something else, something solid and dependable to replace all that heady stuff.
