Have you heard about Threads?
It's supposed to be Facebook's answer to Twitter. Supposedly it already has a lot of users because people can sign up by way of their Instagram accounts. It has even beat out ChatGPT for sign-ups.

I won't be joining any time soon because you can not sign up using a laptop or desktop.

I wasn't trying to imply. I thought I was stating it plainly. I can not sign up for Threads via my laptop. I use Twitter on my laptop all the time. I don't use a phone or mobile device. If or when Facebook makes it easy for me to use my laptop I will sign up for Threads.

Aren't you keeping up? Zuckerberg and Musk are in a p***ing contest. It's hilarious! Each one is not only certain that they can easily outdo the other one but they will leave them in the dust!

I'm just tagging along for fun! It's fun watching two giants fight.

After all the hype at launch, no one is talking about Threads again. It is no longer getting prominence.

I don't know the statistics but I also heard that the subscribers were not staying. I had heard that Twitter was going to be upgraded so that people could use it like a blog and publish content of more than 240 characters. But there does not seem to be any buzz about this change.

Frankly, I don't like the idea. Twitter is good for micro-blogging. But if it is not going to be easy to retrieve your content at a later date then I don't want to publish lengthy blog posts on that platform. Plus, I already use Tumblr for micro-blogging and blogging and it's easy to search my post archive from years back. Twitter is not going to become the new Tumblr.

Type of platforms like Threads is meant to be less focus on picture to give more space for written posts so here anyone will try to use it he need to know "how-to".
Its clear that Threads is meant to be for people who post stories, kind of mini articles, questions, predictions, stats and povs etc ... but it looks like it is for all so it will succeed by number of users okay cause already related to Facebook but it will be useless.
I don't know but it looks like it should not exist so what was the strategy of the dev team when they were working on threads or it was only an order from someone and they just did it .

Almost everyone has a Facebook account. That means all of us are members of Threads without even knowing. That means I have not activated my own account on Threads since I don't have a Facebook account.

Exactly! I don't get Zuckerberg. It seems like his tech experience should lead him to make better decisions with his company. But it does not look like he is making wise decisions.

It has been working just fine from my end. You can get the mobile app and try.
