Content farms

Postby Netherrealmer » 05 Jan 2022, 11:34

Content farms made it harder for aspiring Youtubers to take off. What are content farms? Content farms are companies that make Youtube videos every day and because its a team of people, They can make hundreds of content every day that regular Youtubers cant.

For example, there use to be small lifehack channels that profit on Youtube and they built their fanbase for years. Since these content creators is just a single person. They don't have the ability to make new content everyday. Those authentic lifehack channels died down when content farm lifehack channels like troom troom makes new content on a daily basis using fake life hacks that don't work or stolen lifehacks from smaller channels and tiktok.

If you are a new Vlogger, It is hard to get people to notice you when there are now content farm of influencers.

There is a mansion called Hypehouse and it has multiple content creators for Youtube and Tiktok living on it. They have the unfair advantage living inside a mansion studio because they can easily get collaboration videos with multiple popular creators because they all live in the same house.

Trivia channels had been around since the beginning, I notice there are people who plagiarizes the contents of trivia channels by making versions of those videos in foreign language. Since they have a decade of content to plagiarize they manage to mass produce.

I have noticed that a lot of bloggers and website owners use content farms to create backlinks for their websites, backlinks from content farm are labeled as black hat SEO. There was a time when content farms were considered good earning platforms, but not any more.

Those village cooking channels are also content farms. The production is way too high and sophisticated for being just a humble cooking channel. They also have multiple sister channels which becomes a handicap to new aspiring cooking channels. Smaller channels still uses smartphones as cameras, content farms uses 4k HD studio cameras.

I follow a couple of village cooking channels, I follow these channels because food is my passion. However, I did notice that the videos were way too sophisticated for simple villagers. Most of these content farms are only recycling materials.

They even have drone shots, drones are kind of expensive to be afforded by humble villagers. You can notice it is a big network of channels because they also comment on each other's channels. They also have those throwaway channels that have paid views that automatically goes on trending and use it to give views to their non cheating channels.

This is similar to PBN networks. Alone keeping some news portal popular is not easy. Bigger team means from articles, backlinks or similar networked portals. It will bring more traffic and more money. On similar basis work fake content farms.

I am wondering: given that income from YouTube is reportedly low, do content farms teams earn enough to warrant their time and monetary investments into the schemes? Or do they have have other means of earning an income?

Content farms are making a lot of money because unlike small Tubers, they have the advantage of getting recommended and favored by the algorithm because they have new content everyday and sister channels that promote each other. A normal single person cannot make content everyday.

Real money on Youtube channels come from advertising new products or selling entire channel. Earning from Google ads is just to cover some expenses.

Also content farms have some kind of immunity from copyright strikes. They have lawyers so they can fair use some movie and tv clips without getting a copyright strike. Meanwhile small channels got copyright strike even if they don't violate fair use.

Maybe they made some deal with movie companys. Movies companys get free ads and those get free content.

They dont actually, Its just they are a bigger channel so they can get a pass. Another strategy of content farms is making a "cheater channel"

The cheater channel buys subscribers so they will get recommended and trend. These cheater channels will not make money but they will manage to get subscribers because they got recommended a lot. Once they have enough authentic subscribers, they will invite those fans to move to their new channel. Since the new channel didn't purchase subscribers, and Managed to get organic subscribers transfer to the new channel, the new channel get monetized.

Village cooking channels do it a lot.

Sometimes the person copyright striking you is not the company since they dont mind fair use and fair use is legal. There are people who over reports their rivals to demonetize their channels. Yes some haters can be that petty. Content farms also do that to smaller channels if they called them out.

If we look writing software there is many on market which can write for you automatic. It is not highy quality but still it can bring views.

Elsagate videos make inappropriate automatic animated videos of what is trending. That's why they make repetitive pregnant videos of Spiderman and Elsa at the beginning. Now they are doing it to Among US and the Squid Game doll.

Content farms have their own office with a team of writers and editors. That's why they have videos everyday.

Can fake news and profile creators finish in same category as content farms? Or content farms in 90% create original content? Under fake news and profile I think on groups specialized for president elections like US.

Fake news and profile creators can count as content farms because they are mass produced. A lot of content farms also steal content like those 5 minute meal that stole recipes from older Youtube channels. I tried keeping up with content farms and making videos everyday, is hard for a single person.
