Sharing Some Thoughts About the Past Forum Called WebAnswers

Postby mm123 » 12 Oct 2017, 05:48

A few years ago, WebAnswers was quite a busy and cool forum, that recently went 'bye-bye'.. Now, having stated that, I'd like to ask if you are familiar with the website (or, have also been a member of the site). If so, do you agree, that WebAnswers was a great forum site, for the duration of the time that it was around?

Also, can someone share any info on what (exactly) happened, that WebAnswers is no longer around? There were so many cool members on the site, too.

I belonged to this Q & A site for years and loved it. It was my very first online earning site and I was sad to see it go. Apparently, at the end there was some sort of problem with the WebAnswers owner, Sean, and Google Adsense who we got paid through so the site folded.

I found this link written by a previous member which describes what happened.

I am still in touch with DaddyEvil who I met on this site.

I was a member there. But since this site also ran after big brother, I could not earn anything from it. Eventually, I lost interest in it.

I was on the site. And it used to be really good for the adsense. But then it started dropping. 3$ a day was possible there. But I wonder what killed it. They could have kept it for few more years. I guess everything has it's end.

No it's not online again and I don't think it ever will be, certainly not under the ownership of the previous person. If you click on the link in my previous post above you will see what happened. It was a paid Question and Answer site but you had to have a Google Adsense account in order to be paid.

I was very active on WebAnswers for the majority of its online life. The best answer I have seen to explain what happened to WebAnswers is at http://seraphicinsights.us/questions/question/web-answers

Noted 1/19/2018: The above site is no longer valid.

The content explained the demise of webanswers in a series of errors made by the site owners. There is little else available online to provide similar information

I was interested to read this part because this happened to me:

"A fifth major mistake was in the programming for sharing revenue. If content violated Google TOS, the member who happened to have paying ads linked to the content was the only who received the Google notice of the violation, even if they had never visited the question nor posted anything to it. If the violation was not removed within three days, Adsense was halted for the entire site until a repair was made, but that member was the one who lost his/her Adsense account. Several members in good standing received multiple threats over time and a few did lose their accounts as a result."

Someone had posted some adult content which was frowned upon by Google Adsense but because some of my ads were placed on these pages, even though I had never even visited them, I had a message to say that if the content wasn't removed I would lose my adsense account. I had to contact Sean who managed to sort it out but it was a close call.

I think after I left there were other incidents where earnings were put on hold for the whole site until the place was cleaned up. Still enjoyed my time there though.
