Do you have an account on the Blue Sky Social App?

Postby cmoneyspinner » 19 Apr 2024, 22:36

Well finally!

When Elon Musk took over Twitter, Jack Dorsey said he was going to build another platform just like Twitter. I was hoping he would do it quickly and I jumped on the mailing list to receive Notification when it was up and running.

I did receive an INVITE CODE. But I could not use it because it was for a mobile device and I only work on my laptop. I sent an eMail asking if I could create an account using my laptop. They never answered. So I forgot about it.

The other day I noticed that a person I follow had a Blue Sky account so I clicked on their link. From their page, I clicked the button that said “Create Account” on my laptop.

So now I have a Blue Sky account. It was free and it's almost exactly like Twitter, although I don't notice advertisers.

I guess it will become better than “X” or old Twitter. I'm testing it out.

Have you created a Blue Sky account? If you create one, let me know and I'll follow you.

I'm kind of disappointed because Jack Dorsey is not involved with Blue Sky.

Twitter has that market on lockdown and there is no competition on that. This one won't still work out. Same fate would befall as threads.

I am interested in creating a blue sky account and see how it works. Can you please send me the link?

When I test social apps like these, I use automated posting to populate my feed.

For example, I am using dlvr.it to automatically post whenever I publish an article on Medium. It works great! I don't have to manually post content.

Not sure if it's worldwide. But I can tell that a lot of my followers don't speak English. I have to use a translator to understand their posts.

You benefit from social media only when you build a lot of followers, and building followers is even harder on new platforms

I forgot my password because I don't use it that much. I have reset it more than once.

Using automated posting systems is a great time-saving trick that keeps your accounts active 24/7. This helps you fill in new content without having to manually upload things every hour. It's a great way to ensure your Medium posts are seen by a wider audience quickly without getting bogged down in the middle of nowhere.

I joined Blueky in April 2024. I've stopped using the automated post and manually post. WHY? To my surprise, unlike X, there are real people on Bluesky, and they actually talk to each other. It's actually a “social” platform. Can you imagine? :o

the people there are actually less toxic and easier to talk with. And a lot of them are real people, not some troll farm employee from India and Nigeria who just copy-paste lines to defend Trump

I wonder how the Nigerians feel now that Trump dropped a bomb on them.

You can't really choose your enemies. Some folks hate you without a cause.

But you should be really careful about choosing your "friends" or "allies".
Some folks make "strange bedfellows".
Especially, folks like Trump who can turn on you in an instant after a nap.

the average Nigerians will be offended, but the troll farms from Nigeria doesn't care because a lot of them pretend to be white supremacists. Some of the fake trolls in India as well are also pretending to be anti-Indian.

Trolls are so trifling and tiring.
But I guess we have to learn how to work around them, like we learned how to ignore obscene phone calls.

My issue with SkyBlue is whenever I'm there to, you know, search for a news for a certain superhero, I will end up seeing pornographic fan art.

You can say bad things about Elon Musk and, you know, insult him to death, and you will not be banned. Also, you're not going to be attacked by trolls. The people you will talk with are real people.
