I have a free blog but I never monetized it. Actually it's like a personal diary and I didn't want to monetize it. My husband's blog is monetized with Google Adsense, but it's not giving him much earnings. It's a snail pace earning there.

Yes but if you can invest in promoting your blog, you can earn. It did it on Blogger and I was able to raise money to go custom domain and hosting.
