Open world games are my favorite. Besides GTA, my whole time favorite, I would add Assassins Creed, all of them. Awesome game series. There is also Thief, but this one is kind of weak in comparison.

I played assassin creed'd all seasons ans also Thief it's a great game there is also Hitmane especially Absolution' amazing game

My favorite open world game is Minecraft. I recommend it! Already spent hours building my farm and digging lolol
Another game is the Red Dead Redemption (normal version and version zombies). This still did not play long, but quite liked the story (it's one of the games I have on PS3 and is on my list to play).

Saints Row 3 , S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series and Kingdoms of Amalur. All diferent types of games.
Kingdoms of Amalur i think is open world, i only played the demo.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series i finish the 1st and played a bit of the 2nd . Some people dont like the aim/weapon damage ( its a FPS with RPG elements ) in the beginning so some people love it, others hate it. I loved play the 1st, you exploring zones near chernobyl, diferent factions, quests, zones with radiation, really great , immersive but the game/s is/are old.
Saint Row 3 if you dont know is kinda like GTA but more crazy , i prefer it to GTA

HOW could I forget about this?! This is an amazing game. So many things that can be done and so many different places to explore.The story is very well written and the graphics and physics of this game are spectacular. Probably my second favourite if I consider whole GTA series my first. Still can't believe I forgot this one. Red Dead Redemption is definitely a must play! Personally I prefer the normal version over the zombie one.

I think that the new final fantasy 14 is an open world game. There is the island radiation in IOS which is very similar to mine craft. It is a first person view and you get to go to other islands but you have to survive. I also heard that the new zelda game is an open world.
