Yes it is. Most browsers is now based on Chromium platform. They can easily fill stores with plugins and developers don't need write it in another language and for different platform.

Edge (btoh the old and the new) is very much better than internet explorer and in fact one of my older notebooks not more supporting chrome works well with edge.

same here. When I knew there was a new browser to explore the internet, I stopped using explored. A lot of browsers followed firefox, but I am loyal to firefox.

It's as simple as that. Who runs away from a good thing? Hopefully Edge will do what it didn't (or couldn't). It was too sad for Explorer anyway. They couldn't carry on in that manner.

Part of me wants to say, "Good riddance," but it is fun to boot it up every now and then for the nostalgia.

The Edge browser consumes less RAM than Google Chrome. But still, a lot of people prefer to use chrome perhaps, they get comfy using it than using the newly improved Microsoft browser.

Edge is good but it had two wrong moves from start.
1. It go title as Explorer successor. People already got idea is bad as Explorer so they skip it.
2. In first version it didn't support any plugin. Many people use plugins especially Adblock. Browser without ad blocker people didn't like.

Until I know, Edge is chrome-based, even being a Microsoft browser. The new Edge supports add-on, at least in the new machines (my Toshibas are too old and can't stand for long time new programs and new add-on, whatever browser I use).
