I use this site to host images some of the time as I quite like the convenience of having all my images in one place so I can see them all and reuse them/delete them if needed although at FC i usually use the attachment option as it is slightly more convenient.

I have posted images on this site in the past and ready to post more. I allow my images for free use by anyone giving me credit for that.

Unfortunately I have had to disable Guest registration for now. I will look to see if other preventative actions need to be taken. I allow a lot of content as long as it’s flagged but what was uploaded to the site (in a large amount) was disgusting. Very disappointed.

Unfortunately - someone posted highly illegal images on the site. I took them down straight away but the CDN cached them for longer than I would have liked. I investigated what I could do to stop this from happening in the future and I didn’t really have a satisfactory answer (without spending a good deal of time or manually moderating the images). I closed the site because I didn’t want to have to see those images.

The script I was using was Chevereto. I really hope they have a plan to connect to some of the free services out there to stop these types of images on other sites.

To bad. It was great design and good site. I hope you will find some solution one day. It is not easy find some tool for checking images. Did you had profit with site? I know many image sharing sites close down, like tinypic, since they were not profitable anymore.

That's interesting, I hadn't heard that tinypic had closed. The idea of owning an image hosting site appeals to me, but it is obviously not easy to make money from it and as Sam experienced, the image moderation is not pleasant.

Yes it is closed last year. Some say social media like Instagram took users and images. Some think ads can't cover expenses and webmasters don't pay space for hosting images.

It sounds good at the site, I love that the site doesn't compress, reduce image quality the way Facebook does. With that I'm satisfied.
