Ever since I automated my WordPress to auto share my postings to Tumblr, I don't logon unless the management is expired and I have to renew it. This is viewed in my WordPress dashboard and I can easily do it from there with a simple redirection. But, Twitter is best for me.

In order to generate traffic from twitter, you need to have a lot of followers. I do not know how traffic generation works on tumblr.

Traffic generation is using the different ways which all help in driving traffic to your website. If you retreet and get visitors, that is traffic generation.

I'm using Twitter more daily but the snag is just having followers that like your your posts or niche or what interest you. One can have plenty followers but don't find one's post interesting.

Tumblr is removing contents with pornographic nature. This will led to decrease almost half of the contents. I do not think tumblr will be useful then as a lot of people will desert tumblr.

My Tumblr experiences just keep getting better. Recently the Notifications feature in the Tumblr dashboard finally started working for me. I don't know why it wasn't working before. :? But now I can easily see when somebody likes or reblogs my post and can tell when I have new followers. It's great! Also the Tumblr/Twitter interface is awesome and makes double posting super easy! When I post to Tumblr, it posts to Twitter. I can turn the feature off and on at any time. Because sometimes I might not want to tweet. So as for retweet versus reblog? There is no need to choose. They will both work for you!

I made a Tumblr account before, but I haven't really used it. I did see the use of it before... but I think I have an idea now.

Tumblr allows you to share affiliate link. But you can't create a Tumblr specifically for the purpose of only sharing affiliate links. You must be an engaging member of the community.

I have never used tumblr, however, I have a Twitter account for my website. I have just about 400 followers on Twitter. I don't know how exactly tumblr can be used, but I am thinking about joining Tumblr so that I can build backlinks to my site.

I now have 2 Tumblr accounts. I would have had 3 but my first account got deleted. It is very easy to maintain a Tumblr. If you spend time on Twitter, you're pretty much doing the same thing. Creating short posts. It is good to have a Tumblr because you can link it to your Twitter. When you post to Tumblr it will also post to Twitter. You can turn it off if you post something to Tumblr that you don't want to post to Twitter. It's a very convenient and easy process.

If you are creating multiple accounts on tumblr can you create with a single email or do you need different email IDs. I mean does it work like facebook pages (multiple pages from the same account) or like twitter (different email for different accounts)

With Twitter you need separate eMail accounts. But with Tumblr I have heard that some people create as much as 200 blogs under one eMail. Why? I don't know. :?

But for my one YAHOO eMail which I was forced to use when YAHOO acquired Tumblr, I have 13 blogs and now that Tumblr has a new owner, under my gMail I created 16 blogs. Various niches - art, books, movies, health and beauty, fairies and fantasy, travel and vacation, cultural and lifestyle, online shopping, etc.

Another thing is that Tumblr allows affiliate links but they do not encourage you to use your blog mainly for affiliate marketing.

One final thing is that I find the Tumblr Staff very helpful when you report a problem or ask a question.

Thank you very much for the tips. Since I already have a self hosted website, I do not intend to use a free platform to blog, but I am thinking to create over a dozen blogs with various freeblogging platforms so that I can start building backlinks. But I do understand I will have to focus on publishing quality contents on these blogs even when I am using it for backlinks.

Tumblr is just like Twitter is just like Facebook is just like Pinterest. You have already created the quality content at your self-hosted website. Now all you have to do is share the links with a catchy blurb to get the reader interested enough to visit your website and get the details. Tumblr is a part of all of the social media platforms that you have in your social media marketing toolkit.

I am interested in using social sites and free blogging platforms basically for two purposes, one to share links and gain social signals and two divert traffic. However, the problem is you first need to work on generating audience for you social pages and free blogging sites.

Yeah but if you wait to generate an audience, you will probably never start Tumblring and Tweeting. This is what I do. I link my Tumblr and Twitter accounts to save me time with post sharing. When I see my followers start growing, I review my Tumbl post archives. I put some of my Tumblr content back into the post stream by changing the date. Tumblr allows that. Since Twitter now lets you retweet your on content, I review some of my tweets and retweet them. When I share the content the first time my new followers might not have seen it. They are probably not going to go through my post history. So I repost or retweet the social shares that I think might get their attention. Just start! Tumblr and Twitter are free and popular platforms. You got more to gain than you have to lose.

Have you read my other Tumblr articles?

I have Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Instagram. But I am not very active on all of them. I wanted to establish my social media presence. Spend an hour a week at each network. Over a period of time you'd be surprised. If you're going to use social media marketing to promote yourself. If not, then don't bother.
