You have to understand that as there are lots of people in the net who are bully aside from the fact that identity can be easily stolen in the net. And we have to respect everyone that wants privacy more than popularity.

in hong kong, there are many ways that if they just know your face or just your name or facebook username or phone number , internet users in hk can get all your details and private information within one day and bully you, almost no secret you can do in internet at all

In my own opinion, most legit websites wouldn't want hide their identity. It all depends on the owner, some might hide it for fishy reasons.

There are a lot of tools that you can use to hide your identity. Some people hide their identity for privacy purpose (just like I do, LOL), however, some people hide their identity just to scam others and get away with it.

I had that experience with Literace Base I did so much serarch but just could not find any info on the one who created this Site And as for my personal information we are advised to stay incognito as far as possible.
