What is Y2K? I never heard of this. Is it one of those things that happened before I was born or something?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_2000_problemI was only ten years old but remember it vaguely. It happened at the end of 1999. Computers stored the year with 2 digits like, "99" for 1999 and so on. This meant that when the calendars rolled over to the year 2000, the date would be stored as "00" and the computers would think it was 1900. People went crazy that year and thought all the computers would be useless and that pandemonium would ensue. In the end, a bunch of people fixed the problem and nothing happened so that was a relief but people often remember how crazy people acted before Y2K and refer to it whenever huge-technology-breakdown type scenarios like this arise.
